I had my heavily modified install of CFS3 saved in an archive since I stopped playing it many years ago. I recently have tried to find it because I have a friend that I play a lot of online games with now and we wanted to try CFS3. I can't find it so I went to see if I could find the mods to download so I could just reinstall.

Where the heck did everything go? Avhistory is gone? The planes (including my uploads) are all gone? Effects? Scenery??

EDIT: although for some reason my old computer information and profile info are still saved... lol

The bad news is, the AvHistory and NetWings sites are gone.

At Aussiex, you will also find ETO, full load from ETO 1.0 to ETO 1.41.

ETO is a completely re-done version of CFS3, now broken down into 5 time periods, called Eras, ranging from the Spanish Civil War to the end of WW II in Europe.

Where is Winding Man's scenery, MAW, Charlie's Effects (especially the version I had here that was combined...), OFF..... etc.?

Thanks for the AvHistory planes link though - I needed those. The ETO and PTO expansions look neat. I will have to download and try them out. I have the original disk copy of MAW still, but I no longer have the updated version which included things like real water, etc. I also have an old version of OFF still, but it doesn't seem to be working. I think I am missing some of the files, like the hangar.

Is Mark Rude still around? He had some cool weapons packs and had some neat if implausible aircraft.

I think I am going to cry.

No, I'm not Bear - AvHistory, but it's not the first time someone has confused us. I haven't seen Bear here on SOH for a while now.

That's just the older stuff before the server change. He has done some things since then, I believe.

There are two older archives here at SOH. Click the Warbirds button on the top of the home page, or any page here, I think. Look for Warbirds Archive on the dropdown menu. Click on that.

You will see Archive Library and Archive 2 Library. Simply click on the arrow and select the author's name.

If I remember correctly, that is all of the material from the old server.

Click the Warbirds button again and select Warbirds. This will take you to the newer Library files.

It's a shame though because I had never uploaded the tanks I tweaked... at one point I had given all the vehicles/tanks uploaded here realistic driving performance files. I never got around to uploading them, so that's gone. Oh well... at least I can get everything else back.

:kilroy:Awesome, one more very important thing. If you are using Vista or Windows 7, you may have problems unless you make some simple modifications to CFS3 and the CFS3-based add-on games.

Yeah, I remember PTO, but it was still a WIP when I left. It was something that I was really wanting at the time, though. Did they ever get the carriers really working?

...I'm happy to say quite a few of our alumnus keep a lookout... even check in from time to time... Its one of the things that sets this forum apart (and above) all the rest...:medals:

good you see your thread!
I was playing around with some of your terrain and scenery tweaks the other day, and wondered what you were up to!
CFS3 is not gone, it is more like transformed these days. The quality of the aircraft models and the skinning done now is much better than in the past. Just take a look at the planes available in MAW, PTO, and ETO! Its phenomenal and represents a lot of sweat and blood from the skilled modellers.

Planes I never thought would appear have done just that - freeware Liberators, Catalinas, Sunderland, Lancasters, Russian planes etc etc the list just goes on. Ndicki has done amazing rejuv jobs particularly on the Me 109s which are a real blast to fly.

Really your only challenge will be to decide which theatre to fly in with your friend. And rpb is about to add a whole swag of Eastern theatres... with hints of yet more theatre-specific planes :isadizzy:. The mind boggles..
