Couple of Bugs and Musing on Multiplayer

Awesome

Members +
Well, my buddy and I finally got together and were playing CFS3 (ETO) in multiplayer tonight. With just the two of us and no AI it was rather boring because he was learning how to fly. I am going to have to make some "Dogfight Missions" so I can have something to shoot at while he learns to fly. Haha

Anyways, other than the normal A-20 bug, there are a couple more that I was wondering if there were fixes to.
1: Neither of us can exit the game unless we are in flight. Even if we are still in flight but have crashed (hit the ground) we can't exit the game. The game becomes unresponsive but the graphics are still working and they force themselves into the foreground so my friend (without a second monitor) can't even force-quit the game without restarting his computer. I can, but only because I have a second monitor to bring the Task Manager up on.

2: Oftentimes after we get shot down or crash we don't respawn. This means we have to exit the mission we're in and start over.

Are there fixes?

:kilroy:Awesome, I know you've been away for a while and know it's easy to forget. Remember, first of all, it's a CFS3 host setting or a stock CFS3 glitch, and not ETO-specific.

1. Check your Host settings to make sure you allow player spawns, and what limit you have set.

2. After this, when you crash and fail to respawn while in Multiplayer, press Ctrl + Shift + K. As long as player spawns are allowed and the limit hasn't been reached, this should work in most cases.

3. If that doesn't work, press Esc and look to the Options tab in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Select End Mission. This should do it. Yes, this option will disconnect you from the game.

At this point, there shouldn't be any XP/Vista/Win 7 issues, because you will have had to mod the install(s) in order to connect in the first place.

I hope this helps.:d

I figured it didn't have anything to do with ETO.

So, I have to set a limit for player spawns in order for them to be enabled? I just left that checkbox unchecked because I didn't want to have a limit for the spawns. Haha.

We will try the Ctrl-Shift-K command if we still get stuck. Thanks!

:kilroy:Awesome, no, you do not have to set a limit for spawns to work. I should have said to make sure the host hasn't limited player spawns.

Yes, Ctrl + Shift + K should work. I forgot to add that if that doesn't work, try shooting the guy on the ground after he doesn't spawn until he explodes again. That usually works when Ctrl + Shift + K doesn't. Yep, it's another little CFS3 glitch that only occurs online.:d

The guy on the ground disappears to the guy in the air, even if the guy on the ground can see his own aircraft still. It's interesting because sometimes there will still be a fire or dust cloud marking the spot (and the Tags are still there), but no plane, so no way to kill it again. Maybe we can try carrying bombs?

We'll try out some more stuff next time we fly.

:kilroy:Awesome, no need for extra bombs. Look at TAC screen. There will be a little, black square. If you're still seeing label, shoot right under it, where the aircraft should be.

Hope this helps.:d
