A fish named....

No not Wanda. How about Ito. Yep, Ito. As in Kazunori Ito, the creator of dozens and dozens and dozens of wonderful flightsim aircraft and space ships.

How did this come about? Well, grab a cup of tea and a couple crisps and I shall tell you.

Today, Deb and I made a run to the far other end of town to pick up some new dishes at one store, and then down a couple stores to pick up a bag of large pellet food for my 10 inch Gold Severum (South American fish...big, yellow, beautiful). Well, we ended up buying a new aquarium (10 gallon) to upgrade the 5 gallon tank I had my female Convict Cichlid (Central American fish....way beautiful) in. Since the 5 gallon tank was going to be empty again, Deb asked if we could get another male Betta. Of course I said yes.

So we picked out the healthiest looking and most active male Betta in the store. A nice dark red fella with blue specs and lush fins.

Deb and I have given all of our Bettas names with Asian flair. Oshi, Tia, Ming. When Deb asked me what we should name our new Betta, the first name that popped into my head was Ito. Been flying and working on a lot of Ito's planes lately....so that's why his name was at the forefront of my brain. I told Deb where the name came from....she said she liked it and felt that it was a good name for our new fish and a nice tribute to the gentleman who has given me many hours of simming pleasure.

Excellent! Nice story and an interesting tribute.

I hope Mr. Ito is doing well. He staged a comeback and seems to have disappeared again.

Yes, Ito did come back to the game and produced a handful of new packages....then the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster hit Japan. I hope he and his family are safe and sound following this triple disaster.

Does it fly around the tank really quickly & with lack of stability? :icon_lol:

Seriously, a nice tribute to a gentleman who has given us all so much pleasure over the years. :salute:

He did at one point late yesterday evening. Being new to the tank (went from a cup of blue nasty "water" to a clean, well filtered, 5-gallon tank..what a lifestyle change), he is a bit skittish still. After Deb and I got back from her sister's place, I went into the bedroom to check on the little fella. Walked up to the tank and Ito took off like a ricocheting bullet. Bounced on all four sides of the tank in about 23 miliseconds. Very fast and with no directional control. And I swear I could hear the sound of a turboprop engine:engel016:
