I'm working on the freeware FS9 Alphasim F-105 D and F models. Been flying these birds a good bit lately and felt they needed some TLC to make them look better. While looking for new schemes to lay onto the planes, I came across a site with two pics of a F-105 and the two crew members who flew 100 combat missions in the bird in Vietnam. One pic was of the guys with their Thud in Vietnam, dedicating their new nose art. The second pic shows the guys many years later with their Thud, after it had been restored and the nose art was being rededicated.
I have never seen a Thud in person, so I had no real perspective to give me a sense of how large the plane really is. Seeing how the Thud towers over these two men about knocked my socks off.
