Possible PSU Leakage

Hope you get your PC fixed soon, Mason.:ernae:

PS. I'd recommend that you edit out your email address above...........unless you like getting spam mail :isadizzy::icon_lol:

Thanks Kilo Delta...For both...

Not real crazy about spam....Missed that...Thanks.....:wavey:

I'd say that's good news for ya.

Just wait till tomorrow and then jump up and down behind the front door, just like a dog extatically awaiting its owner back from a business trip. :icon_lol:

But make sure not to joyously kiss the mailman once he arrives with your package. :costumes:

Then, after you've built in your new PSU, FLASH YOUR BIOS! ;)

I sure will...Flash.....

Hmmm Maybe even the UPS driver....She's pretty sweet....:173go1: LOL

Well...Thermaltake called last night...they have recieved my PSU,completely tested it,found no problems, and then sent me a new one anyway second day air ..Its due this Tuesday.Wed. at the latest...

So...Its all down to the Bios flash...And I'm not 100% certain of whats on it actually..It may have a more recent update on it...I just don't remember...:banghead:

But our one and only txnetcop really seems to think this is my problem...And I sure hope so......LOL

My PSU arrived today. I like the modular cables and boy, my PC is soooooooo quiet now!

Had a BSOD nonetheless, but related to the video driver. Gonna do the driver dance now.

Actually...no.
It's still a f+cking PITA to wire all devices with those cables in a small case.

If Coolermaster was a wee bit more clever about their cable management, I could have saved one or two extra ones.

My three SATA devices could have fit perfectly to a cable tree with three devices, but noo, the stupid connectors aren't placed with enough space to plug them into both HDDs right on bottom of the case and into the DVD drive right on top of the case. :isadizzy:

I had no problems ..and even added a third HDD......

I like the big case just for that reason.....

Yea it does...It looks more so now as the ribbon is now gone.( an ordering goof on a DVDRW drive, non sata, but since replaced)

Well drats. I was thinking about this last night, wondering what the verdict was on it.

I had hoped that was it.

I am thinking of getting a higher output PSU myself. I should be able to run FSX at a very good speed. I am wondering if it just doesnt have the 'umph' from the supply..

High output isn't necessary.

Actually even a high-quality 400W PSU could keep a non-sli, non-GTX system like mine alive.
But I wanted to have a bit of safety for a probable upgrade, so I chose 520W.

It just has to be my bios ....(fingers crossed)...What you are really after is a good wattage PSU with at least 80% effinecy.......

Gotta go,,,FOOTBALL...Go Panthers.........:applause:

Well Ladies and Gentlemen....

My PSU came today..Brand new just as they said....
I installed it and fired up FSX.............No joy...Ripples all over the place

Ah Hah I thought..Has to be the BIOS...So with some expert help from txnetcop I flashed my bios with the newest version.....

Fired up FSX and no joy.....I was very dieheartned to say the least..What could it be.....

So I went to charge the camcorder...I set it all up to record these ripples...Started up the computer, loaded FSX and the default and ......

NO RIPPLES........ NONE......I was in disbelief........Then I realized I had not restarted since flashing the bios so it had not taken yet......

It is very jerky now,and is doing some flashing from time to time......But that can be adjusted in the config I believe.....

So....Line up.....Give me your best shot for being such a dummie .....I'm ready for some abuse...LOL :banghead:

Again...Thanks to all of you that have helped and listened.......:applause::ernae:

Did you use the gigabyte utility @Bios to update? I can't believe that it was your bios the whole time.:isadizzy: But im glad your up and running again:applause::ernae::friday:

I am glad this is now behind you Mason so you can get in some serious flying time now on the sim.

I love happy endings.

(Remember, I told you that you were probably one inch away from having that baby running right)....

Bill

Mason,

Since your computer is now "fixed" we probably won't see you much here @ SOH!!

Glad you and Ted were able to find and fix the problem.

Kevin

Hey Mason what I found out from the guys at TechCorp and one of the reps from ATI was that the BIOS on some of the new X-48 boards had some signal issues with the new 4800 series cards. The X2 series in particular were causing grief. Most of the X58 boards will not have that problem if the BIOS was flashed after December 7. It had to be the problem. The first thing I do is flash the BIOS on a new motherboard I guess I assumed I told you to flash it. I'm sorry Amigo for not asking that question earlier. I'm so very glad for you.

For all you guys that have 4800 series cards on Gigabyte X48, make sure your BIOs is the new verion 6 F8 Beta. @Bios is very easy to use, just install it there are four tabs you see. First save your old BIOS and then click the tab to let @BIOS go to Gigabyte and download the latest BIOS. It really is that simple. There is also a tab to load a BIOS you have already downloaded. Takes less than 2 or 3 minutes.
