quite a download
last I knew PANC was a major hub for UPS and FEDEX as well

If it replaces all of the default scenery I think it would probably help.. there was always just something about the default Anchorage that I couldn't put my finger on as far as frame rates went for me.

Yippee! I have been waiting for this. Probably I will use the Lake Hood portion more than than PANC. A quick pair of flights this afternoon left me quite happy. There are plenty of custom buildings that make flights seem familiar (upside-down DOT building, Alaska Airline cargo, Alaska Airmen's building on LHD, and many more). They even improved the appearance of the mud flats.

Elmendorf is not included. This package is just the west tip of Anchorage (from west to some line east of both airports).

upside down DOT ?? lol, what's, uh, that, eh?

The AKDOTPF has their main building in Anchorage at the airport. Due to the external supports it looks like it is upside down and so gained a nickname.

To see it in the Aerosoft scenery take of from runway 13 at PALH and watch below.

Thanks! I will probably get it anyway. But, I think I will wait for the boxed version. That way I shouldn't have to dick with the security stuff.

Does that imply there will be an additional release that includes the rest of Anchorage, including Elmendorf? I assumed(knowing what's said about assumptions) that Anchorage X would cover the entire Anchorage, not just a tip of it.

Matt

It covers PANC which includes Z41 (a gravel strip) and Lake Hood. That is my understanding. An airport scenery not a city although PANC is very big with 3 long runways over 10,000 feet at least.

Gotta agree, love to see it in a box.

OK, I misunderstood that it was a city release, much like their other city releases, not just an airport and surrounding areas. Although I am suprised Elmendorf isn't covered, as it literally right next door.

Matt

As far as I know Anchorage X is an airport release. My description of it as a "tip" of Anchorage references that PANC + PALH geographically is the western tip of the Anchorage bowl. The Anchorage bowl is a triangle with the tip on the west side.

Elmendorf and Merrill Field are not contiguous with the other two airports though their airspace is. I would love it if someone did those as well, since I fly out of Merrill (sim and real life).

Back in the early nineties, I tied down at Merrill after being evicted from O'Malley. Used to work in the old tower, by Spernak's, from '71-'74 - those were the days.

Spernak is still there flying C207's. The top of the old tower is now at the Aviation Heritage Museum which is in the Aerosoft scenery.
