We thought it was time for a face lift and move the model to FSX. We're going to add the Kinner powered PA-18 to the package as well.

Excellent news all around! It was actually that restored PA-18 which got me interested in buying the orginal product, despite the fact that it wasn't included, so it is great to hear that not only will the product be updated, but that the PA-18 will be included besides!

(In these videos, it is rather funny in that the pilot (who is one of the most experienced in flying just about everything before 1930), says it is an easy aircraft to fly, where as the guy who was in charge of restoring it (who has not flown it), says it is an extremely difficult aircraft to fly) : )

This is awesome! I love me some good Autogyro.

Now we just need someone to step up and make a Carter Copter, the other end of the scale, so to speak.

I'll definitely be looking forward to this update. Thanks guys.

Nice! Have not flown this since it was a required racer in the RTW and I flew it out of Rio into the mountains @ night..... will be great to have a full cockpit view to look at LOL!:applause:

The first news "chopper" can you imagine looking up in the 1930's a seeing that. It was newsworthy in itself!

It is stated that this airplane is not met to work well with FSX acceleration. Does any one have it working with acceleration? I would love to get it if it will work with acceleration.

The version I am beta testing is FsX native and I am using Acceleration. I had the Fs9 version as a port-over but now that the true FsX version is coming I have deleted it from my FsX install.

Hi, something strange with blades of rotor. They are transparent on this screenshots, its knowing bug of port model from FS9 to FSX so it will be nice to fix this too.

Hi,
I believe Paul has made them this way as he feels the effect is more realistic for the relatively slow rotation of the autogyro blades and there is no "prop behind the clouds" effect that signifies an Fs8/9 model.

The FS9 version works just fine in Acceleration with a bit of tweaking. See thread here for details. You can get the modified prop textures with my PCA-2 paint at OZx. But like Roger says, the new one is FSX native and the model is a big improvement on the FS9 one (reflective glass, bump-mapping, hi-res textures, etc.)

That's precisely the effect I'm trying to get. The rotor speeds on the PCA-2 are very slow. Literature search indicated that the fastest was about 200 rpm (when Johnny Miller looped the PCA-2). Normally it was about 120 rpm.
