KCFS Seabee takes too the FSX skies!!!!

It's my own work, using PNW and ants objects for my own use. Most is payware stuff, Sorry, I don't upload any of my work any more, to many slamming it and calling it unreal sh&$t, so I don't upload it no more. Its to bad to, because I have done some really cool little airports around Orka island, Oh well!!!

Sorry Marvin that people bad mouth your stuff. I have every thing you've released and all of it is OUTSTANDING!

Our loss due to a few anvil heads.

Bob

PS How's Escolon these days, better than Oakdale?

Hi Bob, I grew up in Escalon, great little town. I know I shouldn't be that way, but I just got sick of all the why did you put that haggar there and that static plane don't look right there, or I cant get a Beaver in to bear camp or you work is just plain unreal crap. I don't think they have a clue what it takes to do this. some times it could take me forever to line up a fence line and some one would gripe that it shouldn't be there in the first place. So i just quit doing it. I can see why the developers get so frustated when they work so hard to make a really great plane and some As$hats grips about thats not the model I wanted, that ones crap, or that color is not wright, or the revits are in the wrong place or to big. I allway stated in my read me that if you don't like it just delet it it's that simple, but they have to E-mail me and let me know they think is crap. You got to love the internet, look a man in the Eye and say 1/10 of the BS that comes out of these peoples minds and see how that will turn out. My Dad used to say if you cant say nothing nice don't say nothing at all, just walk away, he also said don't wright a check with your mouth you as$ cant cash.hehe. Sorry about the rant!!!

Yep Marvin, it's a fact that there is always going to be someone who knows more than you, even when they don't and even when they don't have a creative bone in their body. They simply get satisfaction from seeing their opinions in print and showing everyone how knowledgeable they think they are. There are people like that in every facet of society and the kindest thing we can for them is to ignore them. They'll never admit defeat and they'll always be right, at least in their own minds. All we do by trying to explain our reason/position is to become more frustrated that they don't see what's right in front of them, they never will.

So I would publish away, those who like your work will enjoy the heck out of it, those who choose to criticize will do so as well. Nice thing about e-mails is you can just hit the delete button and send it to the trash where it belongs. If it's a post in a forum, simply ignore it. Eventually they'll think they've won and go on to bother someone else, lol.

Now, back on topic. . . .I've been flying the PAD Seabee for a long time, but this one will just have to require the PAD be moved to the Maintenance Hangar, lol. It is looking very sweet. Thanks for all the work you're putting into it Gib, I know, as the posts have already shown, it is greatly anticipated, even among some non-believers, lol.

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update. Im getting knee deep into texture painting right now on the main dash. Have a looksie! I love the art-deco old style beveling on this, and I just hope I did it justice!

This is very early texture work, so dont judge the final product on this screenshot. The color and text are all based from an original panel saved from an owner pilot who is helping me with references. If they look a little odd, blame Republic!!! Remember, this was 1947!

Thanks for the offer. There are quite a few Seabee's up here around Seattle so I have plenty of references. My biggest concern right now is sound files for the Franklin engine. Im not sure I have proper equipment to record the engine sound, and to rent it would be massivly expensive.

Looks great, if you need anything let me know. there is a seabee based at the airport i work at

We used a 120 dollar device off of Ebay to record the C310 and they turned out quite nicely. The biggest issue is wind. You need to do it on a quiet day...

Not only that, but finding someone willing to let me record there Bee is also a problem, and most likley they wont burn AVG just for fun. Doing something as simple as recording sounds can get very expensive. Winter is also closing in here so there is not a lot of flyable days left in the year. I may stick a default engine sound in, and later add a custom sound pack if the Seabee proves to be successful and justifies the cost. As it is things are tight already. Its hard playin with the big boys when you only have a 3 man team!

One of the things I always wondered about is why most 3rd party add-on's dont use normal/spec/reflection mapping in the cockpit. I have seen some amazing looking aircraft out there in 3rd party, but they just dont react to light like they should. This got me to thinking about how full shaders in the cockpit would look, so I started playing around a bit.

What your seeing is just the diffuse and a normal map on an overly shiny material. The spec map will help tone down the shine/gloss, but this way you can truly see the normal maps. I can honestly sit here and stare at this photo endlessly because it brings to life SO MUCH detail! There is just so much detail that normal maps can bring! Im going full on with the rest of the cockpit in this way.

AS for people worried about performance, normal and spec can always be disabled easy by deleting the images out of the cockpit, but FSX does a really good job pushing pixels, I dont see it being a huge hit. If it is, I may work in some sort of option for high or low detail cockpit or something.

For now, fiest your eyes! Also, here is the big debate. Dirty, or not dirty?

To which I answer, "Yes!"

Make one clean and one dirty that we can switch out. However, if you are going to make some of the external textures weathered, have a weathered cockpit to match and a clean cockpit for the clean external textures.

First of all, looking real good Kevin!
As for the debate, we're talking about aircraft at least 65 years old, so I would suggest that 'used', not necessarily dirty, would be appropriate, unless it is a very recent restoration.

Not to add extra work, but my vote is for both as well. While it's nice to see what an airplane looked like brand spanking new, it's also nice to see a realistic, active-flying version as well.

As for the sounds, my vote is don't worry about them. I've got over 3,000 hours in the C-130 and fly FSX with the sound muted because my ears don't care for engine noise.
