Trying to get the sonicboom effect in DPCKorea I think HH made a file on this but I cant seem to find it.
Any help would b appreciated.:icon29:

Here is the text you need, you also need the two wave files called out in the sounds.xml. PM me with your email and I will forward those. The min max speeds I have listed should get you the effect right around 760 mph.

Aircraft.xpd

<Effect Type="Track" EffectName="fx_sonicboom" PosX="0.0" PosY="-1.0" PosZ="0.0" MinVel="315" MaxVel="318"/>

<boom>
<sound fileInt="SonicBoom.wav" file="xSonicBoom.wav"/>
</boom>

<fx_sonicboom ClassName="GroupEffect" Effect0="sonicboom1" Effect1="sonicboom2" Effect2="snd_Expl_Land_B"/>

I play with the effects a lot so I tend to remember that stuff. Thats what I love about this game is the ability to change it and do whatever you like.

That's modern pop for you. Boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom. Though some of us reckon it's doof doof doof doof etc like when you meet a young turk in his wheels with the windows shut: fairly spoils a nice day's scootering. :-[

WOW you all are amazing..
Lewis THANKS Very much,
I just modified the Sonic boom from the freeware Ho 229 and placed it on my Korean aircraft..
I am very grateful it worked..:icon_lol:

:icon_lol: I am a skeptic, Owen. I just can't help it.
What aircraft, may I ask, did you place it on and would you please prove that it worked? :wiggle:

Hi Rich,
i have this loaded on several of my Korean war aircraft, but to get fast enough you have to dive the Korean aircraft..
here is a F-86 doing a Boom for ya..

I thought a sonic boom was a sound, not a picture, and
I don't hear anything. I can't hear a picture.

But you can see the compression wave (cloud) starting at the wing root just aft of the canopy which grows bigger and moves aft as the Sabre breaks the barrier.

Are you saying you can't hear the sonic boom when actually flying the F-86 but
you can see the compression wave? :ques: Awesome!

I'd like to hear what this sonic boom sounds like in the game. I'd install the codes myself but I can't find any program that will open the
xdp file to enter the code.

I have Firepower installed and the sonic boom is already included in 3 German aircraft (Go229, Ho219v5 & Ta183) but I refuse to fly axis aircraft.
The codes for the Firepower sonic boom look identical to the codes posted by Lewis. :rolleyes:

Hi RC, you can open, view and edit the xdp files with 'Notepad' (not sure what the vista or windows 7 equivalent is). This programme should be on your PC already.

This also works for the .xml and .cfg files.

In XP it's in Start-programmes-accessories or you can right click on the file and go to 'open with'.

Actually if you're flying supersonic in real life you don't hear the boom from the aircraft, or anything else happening behind you outside the aircraft - you're flying faster than the sound is travelling. It's the poor folk on the ground who hear it, like the Cubans during the missile crisis who heard the double boom from overflying SR-71 recon aircraft at Mach 3.

Actually if you're flying supersonic in real life you don't hear the boom from the aircraft,

That's right! I knew that but I was thinking outside the box, which sometimes doesn't pay.
Anyway then, what's the reasoning for wanting a sonic boom in a first person flying simulator? duh
A sonic boom is for those witnessing the aircraft and, duh, nobody wants to demonstrate for the spectators, like, as a spectator, I
requested a video and got ignored.
know what I'm sayin'?

Rich if i had a way to make a video I would Just for you..

But since all I can do is post some screenshots, I do what i can for ya, oh you don't hear this inside the aircraft..
but from the outside view you can hear this if you have the sound files loaded..

sonic boom files

I was very interested in the topic of the sonic boom for the korean aircraft I am amazed I never thought it would be possible and I would certainly like to have a go myself and perhaps someone could be kind enough to send me the necessary files. I have saved this thread to my favourites for the text effect.
