I absolutely agree! I too would love to see this plane, or the improved D.IV, as freeware or payware. I saw a screenshot long ago on the site of a WWI sim which is now called 'Rise of Flight'. Perhaps the D.III will be included in that sim...
 
There was a screenshot showing untextured 3D model. But for now, you have to use SSW D.III in the legendary RedBaron3D by Dynamix with the Western Front Patch by Partick Wilson. The patch covers almost whole WW1 plane setup and it will be hard to beat by any WW1 game in the future :)
 
Very interesting Lukasz! Do you have some screenshots of the D.III in RB3D? How is the cockpit? Is there perhaps a Junkers D.I as well?
 
I'm actually in the midst of building this model in Gmax for both FS9 and FSX...may be a little while until it's complete as I still have a few things to finish on my Fokker EV/DVIII package.:d
 
....One of many WW1 WIPS I've on the go at the moment. I'm concentrating on the Snipe for now and deciding on the next aircraft to complete after release of the Snipe.

Everybody who make planes started from nothing, and have to learn everything from the beginning. I think everyone could learn how to use 3d software, it's not as evil as it seems.

There is only one rule - don't give up.

Yes, there is. There were many, many planes done for the RB3D. Be aware that this game is 10 years old. The original RB3D can handle about 40 plane slots, so Western Front PAtch uses soft called Campaign Manager which reloads the plane slots and introduces new planes (3D files and textures) which replace the old ones.
The RB3D planes have 2D panel and simple VC. The best thing is to register at: http://www.wings-of-valor.net This is RB3D community website. The community is rather small these days, but it is very friendly and helpful.
I am also pretty sure that German division of Sierra made the RB3D II for free. After you will patch it to 3D, then you will get access to many patches, etc.

Anna, thank you very much for your compliment, but it is Michael (Empeck) who did the biggest job with converting those planes. Also he taught me the basic operations with Gmax and FSX SDK.
I highly recommend you to start with sceneries, as they dont require too much 3D skills. SbuilderX should be your first tool, as well as ADE. SbuilderX tutorials are availble on Avsim. There is also dedicated forum for that fantastic, freeware tool.

Any WWI aeroplanes for FSX are very welcome indeed. The period 1910 to 1930 is my favourite. :)

Btw RB3D, with the Western Front Patch, features over 100 flyable aircraft! :ernae:

Thanks Empeck :) It's amazing how such a small detail as that, adds to the realism.

Anna - there's a fair bit of work involved in creating an aircraft, however it's not as difficult as you might think, if one perseveres. I learned from The Stupid Idiots Guide to Starting with Gmax It's for CFS3 but is just as relevant for FS as long as you have the FSX SDK. Forums such as Freeflight Design Shop Forums, FSDeveloper.com and other design forums are very useful.
