Oh dear, Dag,
Are my repaints really that bad that you want someone else to do them instead?
Seriously, though, there is no way I can cover so many paint opportunities. It's just that Rob Richardson and I work very closely with his models and share info regarding colour scheme options and testing texture mapping, etc, etc. That is why I get in first and give people additional paint schemes when the model is released. I do not, as you imply seek to keep them all to myself exclusively!

regards, Peter Watkins

Was that really nessesary Mr. Watkins? It was certainly not meant that way ! My sincere apologies. Thanks for making me feel bad.

I've never read anywhere, someone made comment to a repaint being bad, Peter. Your repaints are nice. And as you see in this topic, others are very appreciative you are doing them.

What I sense is you don't want anyone else to have the opportunity to repaint anything that you've laid a brush too. I sensed this long ago whenever anyone asked for a paintkit for a British aircraft for the flight simulators. And I mean what I'm saying respectfully!

The thing is, were all doing what we do because we enjoy doing it. Aren't we? I know for a fact I am. I spend day upon days doing repaints for others who enjoy this stuff too.

In my opinion, everyone who has the drive to learn to, or can do a repaint, OR quite literally wants to do a repaint, should be able to do them because we ALL benefit from it good or bad. We have the option to not download someone elses work if we choose not too. And, vice-versa.

There. I finally got that off my chest. That was something I've wanted to say for quite some time. Without someone getting offended. Which is not my intentions.

The repaints by Peter Watkins for either model all share the same issue in that the cockpit floor pan has no texture nether does the rudder bar. How do I fix this?
Also I just noticed that In the FB1 model, texture.1 has the wrong thumbnail it that it shows WR535 but the cfg file shows texture.1 should be WR360. I can fix this with a new screen shot, incidentaly WR535 appears in the FB4 as texture2.

I'm sure there is a simple fix for this and non the less I'm greatful to these guy's who give their time freely so that the rest of us can enjoy the fruits of their work. They are great models.
Well done chaps

Dag, I certainly did not intend to make you feel bad. I only posted the comment because you had made me feel bad! I accept now that it was not your intention to do so. Anyway lets draw a line under this and move on.

I find your second paragraph quite offensive. I don't recall ever obstructing anyone from painting any aircraft that I have painted. If you had taken the trouble to read my post to Zsolt I think that shows I am willing to help rather than hinder. It worries me that you have held that opinion for some time. I can see no justification for it. All of your other comments I agree with wholeheartedly!

Peter, I stand corrected. I was not wanting to single you out. And this is what I have done in my wording. I apologize.

What I was meaning to say, was I got the impression that by several responses that they did not want anyone else to paint a British bird. That's when I took it personally and put words to text incorrectly. Please excuse me.

EDIT:

Let me clear this up so what I write is understandable. I'll quote (correctly) what I meant to say the first time.

What I have sensed for a long time is that people in British forums don't want anyone else to have the opportunity to repaint anything that they support. I sensed this long ago whenever anyone asked for a paintkit for a British aircraft for the flight simulators. And I mean what I'm saying respectfully!

Thanks for that fix Rob! I have now released the Swiss camo paint.

cheers, PW

Great Job, ive been eagerly awaiting some swiss paint job's, in my opinion the Swiss were the most famous users of this fantastic piece of British engineering! Any chance of a gloss black version I seen one on Youtube a while ago and it was just stunning.

I was quite at a loss to fathom this out until I compared every texture file between Rob's originals and my paints. The answer is that Rob modified the 'tanks' texture without my knowledge, adding the areas missing from my paints. There are only two colour tanks, blue or silver. I will modify my 'tanks' textures and put them up at BritSim shortly. You can then select the appropriate one for the relevant paint and overwrite the original included in my paints.
Well spotted that man!!

regards, Peter

EDIT: I have now uploaded the fix at BritSim.

Done and released!

wow, amazing, just read the last two pages and you guys wonder why designers and painters get touchy sometimes.

What is this? x1 Fantastic model + Many repaints + ideas = happy me! However the language and tone on this thread is absolutely appalling btw!!

Yes you're correct Robert, I apologise for my comment. As a developer myself I do just get so irate when I see people griping and complaining about things they are getting for nothing, things which other people have spent a lot of time and effort preparing for them.

The main point here is well done Rob and peter for a great little aeroplane and it's new clothes :applause::applause::applause:
