AI landing and takeoff in the same direction

What are some suggestions to get the player at the end of the runway and the AI to land and takeoff in the same direction?

I am not fully understanding the question.

For my missions I put a waypoint at the end of the runway about 5 miles out, from the end that I took off from, so we are landing in the same direction as we took off.

All my AI always follow me on take off.

I have put the WP on the wrong end on landing though and had to go back into MB to put the final WP at the correct end of the runway that the AI are using for landing.

The other thing that should work is in MB, if possible, program some wind coming straight down the runway opposite the direction you want everyone to land. If CFS2 is programed properly.........I know, ...................... it should have you landing into the wind.

Here is the answer. Put the X at the end of the runway then at the start_takeoff_position=000.At the start_land_position put a - and do the same with the touch down position and make the touch down position -000.Also make the rollout or stop position a -.This should get your AI ac to takeoff and land in the same direction. DO NOT HAVE ANY OTHER AIRBASE DATA ENTRIES ON THE RUNWAY.

Now inorder to get 16 AI ac to takeoff at the sametime you 1st must have in the airbase data file only ONE AI ac takingoff at the time not 2.#2. make sure your runway is at least 250to 300FT wide. You are going to need to make 2 airbase data entries. To do this you will need to decide in what direction you want your AI ac to takeoff .Put this heading down then you need to go to the MB and get the Lon. and Lat. for each airbase data entery.NOTE THE AIRBASE DATA ENTRIES SHOULD BE LOCATED ON THE BACK CONNER OF THE AIRFIELD AS FAR BACK ON THE RUNWAY AS POSSIBLE.This is what it should look like.

_end of runway_________________________________________________________________________
X start point
__takeoff direction_________________________\
X_start point_______________________________________________/_____________________________________
end of runway

Now the only AI AC on the runway will be the lead AI AC or you if you are leading a flight.MAKE SURE THAT THERE ARE NO TREES AT THE BACK SIDE OF THE RUNWAY.There are two reasons, one the AI AC could run into them on takeoff or landing. DO NOT USE 1% AIRCRAFT AS AI BECAUSE THEY WILL ALL CRASH ON LANDING.The only stock AI AC I have had any porblems with is the stock P-38.I try to use only stock AI AC if possible. If you Fly only 1% aircraft the way I do then just accept the loss of the 1% AI AC.I think that answers most quistions. If there are anymore quistions I will try to answer them.

Hi Bob! Still an AI mad scientist I see! :) I still check in here every once in awhile to see if anyone has figured out the 'AI landing and short stop' mystery or not :) Awhile back I e-mailed a few CFS2 gurus around the internet but there were no answers.

One of these days buddy...one of these days :)

Thanks Bob.

I usually shortcut my missions when landing by having the AI just orbit the airfields patern while I land and then end the mission. With many of the addon planes and their more complex flight models it avoids all kinds of casualties at the home base.

I try to stick to the stock AIac as much as possible. I am not much of a fan of the ETO but do like the Pacific. I like ,after a mission, to watch the AI land.If there were alot of AI aircraft in the mission , lets say 35 to 40 US AI aircraft, you will see a very cluttered traffic pattern. You will then learn just how good the stock AI airfiles and config files are in CFS2.I have seen AI ac do go arounds land with part of a wing shot off belly in and more.
