VRS F/A-18: A reason to reinstall FS9

I'm going on evidence, not assumptions, but if I'm wrong, then I assume you have the A2A B377, PMDG B744/MD11, etc? :)

I don't disagree, by the way. It does look like a phenomenal package for FS9.

Ian P.

VRS Super Hornet, Section F8 Sabre, many other things, just goes to show FS9 is far from dead. Even superior to FSX still in some areas. Is why I keep and fly in both sim every day. VRS Super Hornet is incredible. No equal! When the FSX version arrives in the coming months, will add it into the "Dark Side".

Evidence? You looking into my game files? If not then you have no evidence. I fly everyting from GA, Commerical, gliders and warbirds and I love helo's. I do have the A2A 337 and another 337, lot's of prop liners etc. Is the PMDG 744 a good bird, I haven't see much posted about it here at the "Combat Flight Center"?!:jump:

I do fly tube liners and actually enjoy them. But don't tell anyone! It's like dating the "overweight" girl. They're fun but you don't want your friends to see you with them...........now that wasn't nice!:costumes:

PS Got $80 bucks I can barrow for that 744? Went to their website to look at them. Now I know why I don't have one!! Whheeeewww, too rich for me! LOL

The point I think that I was really trying to make........getting old and things are slipping.............:icon_lol: Developers, like VRS, need as much support as we can possibly give them. Yes, their Bug was a LONG time in developement but....as they've stated; sales are going to determine if they can bring their Bug over to FSX. I would like to see them do that! Just another thought, take it for what it is.

Now there's a man who gets it!:applause::icon_lol:

OK Mud, I was talking about evidence from your interactions with other people on here - I'll accept that might not be the full story. I also agree that the PMDG models cost more than a lot, but there are cheaper examples as well, such as the LDS B767 and a number of other cheaper models.

Regarding FS9, oh good grief, it is far from dead indeed. I don't think there'll be a lot more advanced development for it (the VRS being the exception rather than the rule) but the sheer scale of development already done for it guarantees that it will be used for some time yet. It's user base is slowly moving to FSX, but I still think that X is going to be very similar to FS2000 (and Vista!) in that many people will bypass it and go straight from the predecessor to the follow-on.

I can't say I'll definitely get the Hornet for X when/if it is released, but I want it. The downside is being able to afford it when it does make an appearance. :isadizzy:

YA, I kind of won a point......:costumes: If anyone said that I greatly prefer prop warbirds over tube liners they'd be right. But overall I just love planes, always have always will! I was the little boy that was driving my teachers crazy becuase I was drawning F4U's when I should have been paying attention in class! Not much has changed!:icon_lol:

Agreed that VRS is very late to the game (FS9)! Which is a shame for them becuase it's going to limit thier sales. There aren't going to be many, if any, aircraft for FS9 like VRS's bug or the amazing Warbirdsims P-51 B/C coming along!

If it wasn't for my nightly flights online, I'd say that FS9 would just about be collecting dust on my desk top. The multi-player and the fact that the guys I fly with still use FS9 keeps it on my HD.

I was VERY sceptical about the VRS bug, that's an under statement! No Marine Corps version kind of turned me off. And the time it was taking to complete it made me lose interest. But I took a chance and man I'm glad I was wrong. I think it's going to blow people away when it does come to FSX! But only time will tell..........

I have it for FS9, am working on the video in FS9, and love it. I have no issues running FS9 for this simulation. However, they are making an FSX version, so those with interest can wait if you wish.

This is a great simulation, and certainly raises the bar for combat military jets by a long shot. It was also a labor of love, many years of development. If they had started it knowing FSX was on the way, I am sure they would have shifted gears. However, the work was already done for FS9, so they pushed forward.

Regardless, I like the rest of you look forward to seeing it in FSX as well. It will happen in time. I however like jmig am enjoying it thoroughly in FS9 for the time being. As a matter of fact, this is my first project in FS9 since I started my business.

Cheers and Merry Christmas folks.

-Cody

(PS, don't bother trying to port it to FSX. It won't work. Period. And don't say I didn't warn you!)

Let's see. FSX was released two years ago already, FS9 five years ago, that's one good reason I can't get excited about any new FS9 releases. Sorry. Make it for FSX, and I'll go out on the front yard and do a cartwheel, perhaps. :costumes:

Valid point mud, but I can't justify spending any further money on an addon for FS9. sure, I would LOVE to check it out, definitely, but not enough to reinstall the sim because I know no matter how good the addon is, it will be in the FS9 world and I would lose the thrill rather quick.

There were no 'attacks" in the thread, simply pointing out our preferences, same as you. I have nothing against FS9, it was a wonderful experience for me and I have many great memories, but it did nothing for me close to when FSX was released and even though I tried to do both at the release, I couldn't and it was deleted.

I hope this does well for them AND I hope they do make an FSX version. Would be a shame if they decided not to because of low FS9 sales, that just makes no sense and be a personal choice on their part if nothing else . Chances are if they have been working hard on getting it right within the FS9 parameters, then they have a long way to go to get up to speed on the new FSX parameters.

Actually, from reading the forums at the VRS site, I got the impression that they were a little frustrated by the limitations of FS9, and made comments like “… but that won’t be a problem for the FSX version because …”. Stuff like that. So it sounds to me like they’re on top of the situation as far as an FSX version goes. I too hope they make one!

When I got FSX running (more or less) smoothly, I said I was never going to buy another FS9 only plane. Well, MAAM TBF, Bomber_12 P-51C, and VFS Super Bug later, I have failed on that plan! I still have both sims installed and enjoy them both. I will probably delete FS9 when FSX has a decent P-38, B-25, B-26, SBD, Beech 18, F4U, DC-3. And a CAC Boomerang!! :d

Getting rid of FS9 was no loss.

Ian P.

Can I use that in my signature? :costumes:

I think it is sad that companies like VRS and Airsimmer are stuck back in FS9-land, but I accept that being a FSX user, I'll have to wait for those companies who are behind. :banghead::isadizzy:

Besides there are plenty of awesome addons from other developers to keep me occupied, like FSPassengers X and the new F-14.

If there is a team that is fully prepared for FSX, it is VRS. These guys will do a wonderful job for the FSX version. Jon is a good guy, intelligent and knows what he is talking about. If there was ever a team to purchase sight unseen from, these are them.

Don't worry folks, when the FSX version comes out, you will be hearing the praises yet again! LOL.

Cheers and Merry Christmas.
