One reason why I've been away lately is that I am having computer trouble; CFS3 is giving me some weird graphics problems which cause the whole lot to lock up. The screenie is actually from Strike Fighters, where I've had it once or twice only, while with CFS, it's every other mission or so. Annoying and difficult to do much.

Does anybody have any idea? I've tried changing the drivers (7600GS AGP) and so on, and while SF2 is fine, CFS3 is a joke. The screenie is an old one from SF2, but CFS3 does the same. Interestingly, only the moving part of the image is affected - UI menus and tabs are fine.

I know I need a new computer, but I was really rather hoping to survive a bit longer... Any ideas?

It looks like 3D graphics memory corruption. Probably a bad chip on the board. If it's overclocked I'd go back to stock speeds first to confirm it's not just a timing error.

I've just had similar probs Nigel, turned out to be corruption of my C drive which has now expired. I think also the AGP slot was on it's way out too.

This week I've bought another PC, there are recon bargains to be had on EBay, just got a P4 3.2ghz HT with 2GB memory for just over a £100. The one that's just gone was a similar recon which lasted nearly 5 years.

Corruption on C could well be it. I know that all three drives are suffering from dying clusters, and that sounds credible. Having said that, it doesn't matter which drivers I use - I'd have thought uninstalling and reinstalling would mean that everything would go into un-corrupt areas... The motherboard is recent, so it should be OK.

EBay UK... Paradise. In France, it's pretty crap.

I haven't overclocked it at all - too frightened of getting it wrong!
