KC Flight Shop Republic RC-3 SeaBee Now Released! (Payware)

I watched the development all through and was on the fense with it but frankly...the final nail was the quality of the paint work, the light weathering techniques espeically. I have always said that an awesome paint job could save the life of an ailing aircraft, when referring to some freeware planes. In this case....an awesome model wrapped in awesome paint deserves to be bought. So I did and I''ve added another plane to fly form time to time....and a great one at that. :medals:

Ok, I "uncommented" the light section and here's the results (for me at least). . . .in order from left to right:
Dome light off, Dome light on, instruments Dim, Instruments Bright.
I also checked the Anchor light and all other external lights and they were fine. The only set that's questionable is the Instrument lighting, Dim seems to be brighter than the bright setting, lol.

I uncommented the vclight only but didn't see any inprovement. Here is the light section from my cfg file and it doesn't even have the red wing light in it yet all the out side lights are working except the anchor lite??

Well this was certianly worth the wait (and more than worth the money). She's beautiful inside and out, a bit of a challenge on short narrow runways (which I love), and perfect for the low-and-slow bush flying I do most. The cockpit is amazingly well done. Excellent detail and functionality. I'm going to be putting lots of hours in that office. Thanks for a great addition to the hangar! I can't wait for the IFR version.View attachment 57736View attachment 57735View attachment 57737View attachment 57738View attachment 57739

Yea, the exterior lights seem to be fine (I'm guessing the Nav lights are modeled in and not controlled by anything in the light section? maybe?). The interior lighting is odd though as I also noticed that depending on the time of day (in particular from dawn to daylight) you either see a difference or you don't and at one point, the dome light actually made the interior darker than when I turned it off, lol.

Had a nice flight from Stuart Island down to Bear Gulch. Touched down right around the house at Bear Gulch and was rolling across the bridge towards the hangar and got a crash detection. Grrrrrrrr!! No tip over, no obvious crash, but as soon as I got to the bridge. . . . .CRASH!! took me all the way back to Stuart Island. I don't think so!!!!! lol. I'll begin the next flight from Bear Gulch. . . . .that'll show em', lol.

Just a question about this wonderful machine: when sitting on the water, shouldn't the floats touch the water? In other words, should it sit that high?

and here are my last two paints, I hope that's enough to keep you guys happy for the moment?

Jankees, I hope you can keep the kids "busy" for a little while longer. LOL!!! I'm in the process of getting my repaints ready for shipping. First thing this morning, coffee in one hand, rubbing the eyes with the other. Using the mouse and keyboard via my "chimp" given other ways. :icon_lol:

Gentlemen,

Somehow i missed the Seabee completely ... ;)

And now, out of a sudden, it landed on my hard disk. What a nice surprise! I have to say that this bird is a beauty right down to the scratches and dents of its instrument panel.
The Seabee flies well, somewhat demanding when it comes to the approach due to its (over?) sensitive rudder. Propperly trimmed one can ride like a train on its tracks but you have to apply a tiny bit of rudder to compensate the small left tendency. Landings are not that difficult one might expect from such an old plane, but you must judge your approach by watching the environment closely due to the abscence of a variometer. Otherwise it is a bush pilots dream: drop your landing gear and push the nose down. Even with some power standing it will not go beyond 70 KIAS. Be aware that the Bee usues far more runway to get airborne than it uses up for a complete halt. It is a pilots plane indeed.

Applying bump- and specular mapping to the VC was a good decision, because it adds to the athmosphere of the interior. The outer skin is well done and just with the right quantity of wear and stains. Personally, i would prefer a bit more wear and tear in the VC as well. Like the instrument panel itself which "sports" scratches and dents, the interior side panels, seats and floor should have some signs of the years of usage.

Did i read correctly in another thread that other versions of the Bee are planned? If that is the case i have a recommendation: Add a seventies or eighties instrument panel together with some "used up" interior. I mean not "worn", it should look like a well maintained interior but with the used look mentioned above.

After some flying in and out of remote locations i have to say that the Seabee is worth the bucks. It is a welcome change to the majority of GA planes available.
Well done chaps, well done.

My Thanks to the KCFS team, regards,

If you look at the size of the rudder and the vertical stabilizer and take into account that both are in the undisturbed slipstream of the prop with no fuselage to interfere, the high sensitiity isn't too surprising.
Nevertheless it's still it's too weak to handle even a moderate crosswind ;)

Sponsons dont generally drag in the water on any seaplanes. They are just there to prevent it from tipping over. You can see in this photo, that even though one side is dipping in, the other side has a good foot of air between the sponson and the water.

Doing some research on the Kenmore Seabee (Its still flying in the PNW BTW) I found a very interesting photo.

I wonder how common this sort of thing is? I asked the Seabee pilots, but its really interesting on two points. First, landing in the snow!!! Never thought of that! 2nd, the Kenmore Seabee removed the landing gears. I wonder how easy it is to take off after landign like that?

I would think that the take-off distance would be lengthened considerably, considering the aft part of the pontoon structure is restricting normal lift angles. It would be interesting to see it done!!

Oh boy would I just love to see that takoff run;-) Be somethin else!

I know that they did a few rescue missions with PBY's landing and taking off from snow and ice, so a little bird like this should be possible I guess..
That's pic I used as inspiration for my paint btw!
