Been looking at helos lately, and being a big fan of Accusim, I was intrigued by the Dodosim's 206's engine and system management. Is it a fair assumption then to think that Dodosim's 206 is a very similar experience to that of A2A's accusimed planes? And how does the visual model compare to other helicopters on the market?

Yes the systems are second to none, as for the visuals, its not a highly detailed model, many have made the same comment, while the externals are average, the VC is pretty good, like any model, the higher the quality of a paint inside and out the more enjoyable it is to look at, and lucky enough the dodo has a lot of HQ schemes out there

If you are after something that has high detail in and out but not too fussed on systems, any of the cera models, ND/Milviz Huey and Skycrane are up there

but if you want high quality systems but not to fussed about the outside, YES the dodo is what your after, otherwise if you want something that meeets them half way the 222 from cera is the way to go

dont get me wrong, i love my dodo, but i love all helos
 
DreamFoil is the most impressive, i seen

Dodo Sim is a very odd name when it comes to a payware Heli such as the 206. Sure it has some advanced stuff but the detail of the model is poor.....some good news is OzX did some textures but just for external, so the inside still looks standard. OzX have been generous enough to re-furbish the deafult fsx bell 206, the model is bigger, and did I mention HD, at least the exterior anyway....the interior look better once again, but still has a few blurry textures, just wish it had the Careando's HD texture quality inside and a better rottor wash effect. Tested that with the TSS bell 206 sound pack, was dissapointed that TSS has not captured all the sounds required. There are a few people who tryed to re-create the very popular heli but they all need more work. I saw Aerosoft – Dreamfoil Bell 206 JetRanger III which Im looking into right now, and I think think I like what'm seeing, plus they re-done the R22 as well:icon29:

Can't beat the Dodosim 206 for functionality as stated. Aerosoft's Huey X package is a good mix of functionality and visuals in my opinion. Both good products in their own rights and the top picks for their respective aircraft in FSX.

What is important to know about the Dodosim versus the rest is the way it flies with speed related torque effect, vortex ring state meaning careful management of the flights interaction with airflow is significant and applicable sound effects related to manoeuvers causing blade chop, etc. Wind direction on engine start and temperatures all make it necessary to do things right. Flying outside of limits causes wear and failures, hot starts causes fires, etc. Flying other helos after Dodosim, no matter how pretty, simply doesn't compare
 
Speaking as a huge fan of Accusim, I can tell you that for me at least the Dodo 206 is a terrific experience. The Aerosoft Huey X flies well and has good visuals, but the system fidelity isn't at the Dodo level (no other FSX helo really is). Also worth a look is the Cerasim Bell 222, especially with this flight dynamics mod, and the new Nemeth AS 350. And I've enjoyed the Nemeth/Milviz Huey and the Cera Bell 212 and 412, especially when paired with Helicopter Total Realism. But the Dodo is in a class by itself.

I agree the Dodo's VC is nothing special, but the visibility is so good and the nature of flying a helo is such that you spend nearly all your time looking outside the cockpit. There are some visual enhancements available - for example, this VC mod, and this fix that adds reflective glass to the VC (click the link in the first post), which helps the atmosphere a lot.

Bottom line: VC aside, the Dodo is the helo equivalent of an A2A product.

Oh, about the Dreamfoil helos for X-Plane - they're great. And so is the BK 117 by ND Art and Technology.
 
Speaking of the Dodosim, could somebody tell me if it is fully flyable from the VC, or do you need to use 2D panels to operate the systems and engines ?
I hate using 2D panels. HoverControl's 412 is quite a complete addon, but you can't use it without going through the 2D panel for engine operations, and the VC is nearly useless, so in the end I uninstalled it.
How is it with the Dodosim ?
 
I've no idea why people mention products that aren't compliant with said forum. This is the "Microsoft Flight Simulator X" simulation forum. Not X-Plane or any other.

Yep, the VC is fully flyable...no need to use the 2D panels.

The Dodo 206 is without question the best FSX helicopter. At least if you are aiming for maximum realism :)

I've found there are just a couple of quirks in the VC - the fuel valve doesn't always switch on reliably and the starter button can be hard to get a grip on. So I use the 2D for those. Takes a second or two and doesn't detract from the overall (great) experience.

Cannot belive this, the guy who made the reflective glass to VC and a few other tweaks, he made a .dds files instead of .bmp:icon_lol: I really need these files since the VC is a bit plain :kilroy:
