What causes this anomoly

Not a huge issue, just a little annoying, but elongated shadows(?) flicker on and off from buildings doors and windows in some sceneries. In this case it is Aerosofts Tahiti, I get it also in Gibralter. see pic.

WOW!! What a beauty. I like the detail in the cockpit and the cockpit night lighting looks good too. What is that little round thing that looks like a small steering wheel on top of the center of the main panel?

Oops, disregard my post. I thought I was replying to the DC-6 thread. That's what I get for having too many browser tabs open at once.

It happens when someone has used a "Volume Shadow" material on a planar object (or at least not manifold). Some of Microsoft's own autogen stuff has these anomalies. You can follow the shadow back to the offending building and exclude it if you need to. Otherwise, turn scenery casts shadows off.

Thanks. I was wondering if it was maybe my ATi Radeon, but I can live with the issue, it's rare and no biggy.

Elogated shadows can also be a sign that your video card cannot process and display the data quite fast enough. I've seen that a number of times with my Nv8800GT with highly detailed and graphic intensive aircraft and/or sceneries.

I get them with the GTX 260 as well. It isnt your radian. Sometimes a texture is just done badly. I have this problem in places such as Canberra with even default textures..

This happens when the points , vertices are not closed properly , bad modelling and or some cases not tested before release .
