Douglas B-18A "Bolo" Uploaded

I uploaded my model of the Douglas B-18A "Bolo" to Simviation and Flightsim this afternoon, should be there tomorrow.
The B-18A is one of my all-time favorites because it is the first military airplane of any importance I ever saw. My Dad took me to see one at the Dubuque, Iowa airport in 1939 or 1940. I was either 7 or 8. It was there for a recruiting drive for the USAAC.
This is a native FSX Acceleration model. It has the usual stuff plus animated bomb bays and upper turret. The VC and 2D panel are from the default DC-3.
I have now modeled all the important pre-war US bombers except the Martin B-10. I went from the Martin MB-2 to a Keystone, the Boeing B-9, the B-18A and the Douglas XB-19. I have excellent reference material for the B-10 but just can't get excited about modeling it. Perhaps another year.

Best, Paul

Thank goodness for the B-18. :)

I just started a new round of "War In The Pacific - Admiral's Edition" and I have every B-18 Bolo in operation working overtime. I have about 70 split between 15 squadrons flying out of March Field, Anchorage and Pearl Harbor flying non-stop anti-submarine patrols. I've only lost 14 so far and I think most of those were taken out by the initial attack on Pearl.

I am advised that some are having a problem with my B-18A (and also my recent Boeing B-9). This doesn't happen on my system so I am indebted to those that brought it to my attention. (BTW, I do have crash detection turned on in my sim) On some systems when you load either airplane FSX freezes and gives an overstressed error message. I think I had this happen when I first started designing for FSX but I forgot about it. There are 4 entries at the bottom of the aircraft geometry section of the Aircraft.cfg file that are set to zero that need to be changed. Change them to the values below for both airplanes and the crash problem should disappear. I will be uploading an update to the usual sites that says the same thing.

What a beauty! Thanks so much for this, Paul!

Has anyone done any wartime repaints of this? Be fun to have a sub-hunter or Canadian Digby.
