Warbirdsim P-51D "Twilight Tear, Then and Now" Released (Payware)

JIMJAM, even if you have the other Mustangs, these are worth the price of admission! I installed both of them last night around 11:30pm and only had time to take a lap around the island that LGMT is
on, but it's good stuff; visually and flight-wise. Great work, John!

Even though my latest kick as of this week has been vintage jets, I may just have to get this one. All of the above great pictures are nothing less than 100% screenshot porn :isadizzy:

Plz stop it!!! I swore off P-51s but the temtation is great ha ha ha.

Ok, I just bought it through Warbirdsim and must have missed something. Did I just buy a boxed edition or I am waiting to get a download link? I instantly got a paypal verify email but see no download link or customer account area to download my P51?

JIMJAM, check your email for the download link. Mine came in just minutes even though WBS says 2 to 7 days or some such nonsense.

Jim

Download

I am having the same problem. I purchased, have the payment sheet from PayPal and can not download. Albert sent me a website address to download from, but when I access it in comes up blank. I have made sure nothing is blocked in my blocked senders list and all is clear.
Even tried downloading from FireFox but had the same result. There is no place on the site to log in, check orders or previous downloads.

I have never had this much of a problem trying to buy and download anything ever before.

Getting very frustrated.

Tom Hibben

This is why I have 3 pages of orders from Simmarket.

I eventually got my plane but what a pita.

After buying all I got was a PP receipt. A empty void is where my money went. Not to panic, I searched the website and while very, very well done has very little about the purchase and download process.
Do I get a instant download email? Does a human have to do it and it will take 2-4 days? Did the transaction even go throught???
After not getting a conf email and link I googled warsim download problem and my God!!!! I must have ran across 2 dozen pirated links to every plane they sell.
Ok so I get the link and just need to log in. Yup, WRONG password and or email. WTF- I just used it to buy the dam thing. Ok, So hit reset my password. Click........ Nothing:pop4:

Ok, is it going to be minutes, days??? Well 15 minutes later I get the new password. Finally get my download but where is it???? I give up,start closing windows and its buried behind 6 screens.
Way,way to much effort put into advertsing, web layout, graphics, slick pictures and zero to little info on the actual purchasing process.
I just did my first 2 flights so I have simmered down some.

Hi Jimjam,

I am just as frustrated as you are. I don't even have a place to submit a password. All I get when I log on to the site they sent me is a Blank Page.

If everyone has this much trouble it is a wonder they sell anything.

Tom

Tom and Jim, this is something I hate to read, and things will hopefully get corrected very, very soon.

Please see my PM"s I sent to both of you, and please get back to me when you can!

I admit I was getting a little frustrated but I am up and flying a great plane.

I just want to say a great big "THANK YOU" to Bomber for his help. It is people like him that help you keep "the sunny side up".

Thanks again John.

Holy cow John! I gotta get better at reading all the pages of each thread. One would think the Mustang is certainly a passion. Looks absolutely fantastic. I do hope you'll get the DCS variant and do some comparison, FDE wise. Man, I so wish at times, FSX was more a combat sim than it's current iteration. Great work and greater attention to details. I'm suprised you didn't model the relief device in the cockpit, has everything else.

Great model. :salute:

I just did my first "fantasy" flight. A short cross country to visit a freind at a small 3300ft grass strip. I had doctored the bare field with a scenery designer so it looked like a place warbirds would show up for a $100, uumm I mean $500 hamburger. I then after take off pretended to have engine trouble and diverted to a larger paved airport. Then I set the time for sunset for a dash home to my home base, another doctered up 3500 grass strip with no lights.

Which brings up a question? I flipped any switch I could find related to lights but could never get any external lights except the landing lights. This was the modern "restored version".
Anyways, made it home just after dark for a exciting night landing on a unlit runway. Together with A2A's accufeel, it was one heck of a nice flight.

That sounds wonderful, Jim! I love flying off grass strips, and also trying my hand at landing and taking off in the shortest distances (though trying to be reasonable with it).

Regarding the lights, there shouldn't be a problem with them, but I will be sure to test it out again tomorrow. There are quite a number of lights switches. Both wingtip lights are controlled via one switch, while the tail light is controlled via another switch. They are both located on the main electrical panel, on the right side of the cockpit - upper row of switches, furthest aft.

Thank you Matt! I do hope I'll be able to experience the DCS Mustang first-hand. I caught a video from someone's first take-off in it, and I think it was the ugliest looking take-off I have ever seen, lol! I am curious just how 'hard' it is, or if you already have the 'knack' for that type of flying, you can jump right in and feel right at home. If you're experienced flying modern jets, only, it is going to naturally require quite a bit of learning or re-learning of some imporant things. Having seen the same level of authentic detail incorporated into the DCS P-51D model as I've strived for, it would be great to be able to meet the guys that were involved with the production of it.

It's funny you mention the relief tube! I was actually planning on including it in the cockpit, originally, but with it being tucked-up under the seat, it was just one of those things that would hardly ever be seen. It's also sort of like the arm rest - there's no function for it in the sim. : )

No problem, Tom, and I'm very glad to hear you're up and running just fine! It's getting a bit late here, but I'll be sure to get another e-mail off to you as soon as I can tomorrow in reply to your last.

Thank you Randy, I love the screenshots!! I've done that flight too, from Granite Falls to the Twin Cities. : )

Can't wait to see 'Tear sometime this summer again.

@Bomber_12
Thanks for the nice Mustang. I am waiting for the Swiss Air Force repaint before going to get this model too.

Cheers
Martin

Thank you Martin! There will be two different Swiss AF repaints, an Israeli AF repaint, and another, all packaged together when completed.

Challenge

Gentlemen, this is your checkride challenge. 2 local strips I fly from with one being on a lake making for a difficult landing and a even trickier take off.

Start a SC99. 3000 narrow asphalt. Fly Nnw and approx 5 miles or so is SC14. 1700 grass/dirt. Only way to get in is to approach runway 30 over the water. Trees on the other end spoil that approach and make a go around almost suicidal so nail it. You cannot come up short or float it so you gotta keep it tight and hit it.
Suggest a carrier approach right at stall speed, full flaps,50% or less fuel. Taking off is also hairy.
Good luck.:cost1:
