I FOUND TREASURE

Some questions:

1. Is this some kind of malware? (Can't be too careful)

2. What system/OS are you using?

3. How has it affected your CFS2 performance?

Would be nice if it's legitimate. I run CFS2 on Win 7x64.

hi pal
1/ checked with Avira and Malwarebytes and its ok
2/ win 7*64
3/ most of games .exe ( especially the old ones ) seeing only 2 gb of ram even if you have more. patching the exe makes it to see 4gb. Now i'll tell you a small story. Last January i bought a new motherboard and i increased the ram from
4 gb to 16gb (as you know only win7*64 can recognize it-if you have xp-vista-win 7*32, pc can recognize only 4gb). So i made 2 installations (bob and eto late) and the game was running perfect even i had a lot of planes converted from fs9 such as-wop fw190, wop me 109 spitfire, p-51 cwdt p51 and a lot more. Problems began (a lot of ctd) when i started with pto early and had a lot of scenery -usios ships and of course planes such as wop a6m5 ah f4u ah p38- sky unlimited p38. Then i pissed of cause i had spent a lot of money and i couldn't play. I stopped for a while and started with another sim. There i had the same till someone in the forums gave me the link for that patch. i patched the "game".exe and now runs fine. i'll sent you via pm a youtube link to show you what i mean.
a/make a backup of your cfs2.exe
b/run the patch and guide it to cfs2.exe
give the game a go

hope that helped
cheers

Nik112,

Thanks for the info, I'll try it out. A questions about your converted A/C from FS2004, the converstion where done on another system right? We cant use MDLC with Windows7? I miss the ability to run planes through the conversion process. Please let me know if I have missed something.

Hi pal
You're correct you cant use mdlc in win7*64. I used it at my job (win7*32) and of course i had help from a lot of people from here.
cheers

Thanks nik112,

I tried it with MDLC which doesn't work with Win7 but still no joy.

Kevin

MDLC is a program with an .exe file used for converting FS models to CFS models. It doesn't work with Win 7 64 bit. I tried applying the 4gb patch to that .exe but the program would still not work in Win 7.

Not to worry. :salute:

I took a gamble & gave it a try. Works great!! Tried a couple of missions that I knew to be potential 'slideshows' & they ran as smooth as a baby's butt! ( And my PC seems to still be OK :isadizzy:).

Agreed

OldWheat and I were of a similar mind today.

I installed this in a fresh BoB copy today AFTER running a test flight of [8] A. Wai Spitfires against a flight of [8] GC Dorniers.......

Talk about a slideshow
BEFORE - The scenery and flight characteristics were so choppy, I got a headache. Maybe 5 - 10FPS...

After running the 4Gig mod, that same flight was smooth as glass..... and about 35-50FPS.

And this was done with a Dell 1525 Laptop with 4 Gig of total memory, Win XP, nothing special under the hood...

BIG Thumbs up, Nik !

double click on the exe and the prog will ask you where is the .exe you want to patch. Navigate to ex c\program files\microsoft games\combat flight simylator 2\ or the place that you have install the game and point to cfs2.exe. thats it

happy flying

I tried it on FSX (32bit) in W7 64. The Tokyo Business trip mission in the Bell chopper, which is for some reason always a bit of a resource hog. It still is but with this device it at least is playable which it wasn't before. Now Fps are in the mid 20's wereas before they were in single figures. Early days, but I think we may have a winner here. :applause:

I didnt mean that you patch mdlc. Am saying that you patch cfs2.exe

Hint

Guys
Go through mission builder and edit missions-increase the planes of squad and you'll see the difference. By the way thinking that needs to upload here so everybody even new players can have it. i'll try tonight when i'll be back home.

cheers
