went to my shed this afternoon to get my second CHProducts throttle quad,decided i wanted to go ahead and set up for four engined ops,and its gone,,along with several other items including sveral old games like nascar 2004,IL2 sturmovick,a rally racing game..my old ratbag games,several books,,why woould they take books?...and my model railroad locomotives,,got 7 steam and 6 diesel...left the rest that were hidden,all HO...the "G"...1/20.3 are in the house in the office,,,bums me the throttle is gone.....dang.....
 
Can understand the Joystick, and video games... But books and HO scale trains? That is a new one. My dad and his friends were the only people I ever knew that were in to model rail roading. You hardly run in to anyone (at least I don't) anymore who does model rail roading. Sorry to hear about your loss though Dave. It really seems you are having a bad streak lately.
 
seems jesse,,the youngman who took the stuff,felt he needed the drugs more...he told his father he sold it all on craislist...allthough i guess the book(s) are at my nephews house,he reciently got out of jail and seems things went missing all over the nieghborhood,,he even stole an old paper roller type calculator from one nighbors garage...and he is a cop,,,i personally think jesse is "asking" for help....he know stealing from a cops garage is gonna get him caught..(as it did) and taking the things he did,,sure easy to sell on craigslist ,but dang....the guy two doorsup is a retired sargent,he has a garage full of word working tools,,worth alot of money,,,yet he told my throttle,and HO locos,and brians calculator,,refina's welding helmet...odd stuff..but OLD things people will buy
 
Thieves are generally someone who has been to your house or property. Someone that, at a time, was maybe welcomed in. If not them directly being the culprit, one of their friends.
Getting ripped off is not something I take lightly.

Years ago I took it upon myself to be prepared for the would-be callers (thieves) that would eventually come to call and try their luck on my poker table. Since then my neighbors also joined in.
We, as neighbors, pity the poor fool (s) who come to gamble on our poker tables.

In hopes that you can somehow recover your losses, Dave.

EDIT: By the way, not only did you get robbed, you also got educated in preparation for the next time. My guess is that others will come calling on you and your neighbors again. Be prepared.
 
I'm sorry for your loss, Dave. I feel especially heartsick for the loss of your locomotives. Hanging's too good for a thief.

if the father told you that, you need to report this guy. not doing so enables him to continue victimizing others as well as yourself. don't ever just let it slide. here's why, imo:

when i was a kid i grew up with this certain boy, we'll call him james. he was continually bullying people, stealing and robbing. being a juvenile, he seemed to always get off with a mild punishment. one day after his gazillionth court appearance, the judge told him "we are suspending your sentence. this is your last chance. mess up just once more, and we throw the book at you for that crime, as well as this one."
well, a few months later he turned 18. him and another guy tricked this 3rd guy we all knew into going out to the state park with them. they beat him senseless, and raped him with a tree branch, leaving him for dead. he was sentenced to 25 yrs with no possibility of parole or good time. he picked up 5 more years while in prison, for other stunts he pulled in there. he just got out about 3 years ago.
if they didn't let him slide so much, maybe things might have been different for all concerned.
 
wow...what is it with some minds?.....in this case,,the father,my nighbor and friend,,,he calls the cops on his kids and grand kids often,he is a private investigator,has a .357 and a 9mm at all times,i lay in bed at night waiting to hear a gun fight coming from his house,,,,he is the only "norma"l person in the house,and he accually has a bed in his office,the wife has 9 dogs and they all live in the house with her,he has allergies and cant stay there or he gets sick,,so he lives at his office most of the time,,his oldest daughter has 7 kids by seven differant fathers,the middle chicl..a girl wont speak to the family at all,accuased her mother of sexual assault...and the son is in prison..now the oldest grand son is eiter heading to prison or the marines....
 
my friend said he wants the kid to go to the marines,but i asked about the fact he has a criminal record,he said as long as he hasnt been convicted of a felony .........yet........i just shook my head,,course he couldnt see me do that on facebookchat...but it did bring up a question for me..if you cant join the miliraty until you are 18...how do these gangmembers get in who have the extensive record?..or are people telling stories when they say kids with murder raps as juviniles are in the currant armed forces?..or servied in iraq?..heard alot of those stories at one time
 
when i took my asvab test, i had a criminal record as a juvie. i had to get a pardon from the state, letters of character reference from several community members, (including my former teachers) and there was some other hoop i had to jump through as well, but i can't remember any more what it was.
of course, that was 1985. it could all be different now.

i should state that although i scored very high on the test, i failed a couple of key points on the physical.
they would still have accepted me, but my choices became so limited i ended up not enlisting.
 
I don't know about the Army or Air Force, but the Navy and Marines are very picky when it comes to criminal records, juvenile or not. It's pretty much the kiss of death for enlistment. If you can't behave in society, why should they think that you will in the service? It's much easier to enlist someone without a record instead.

A recruiter buddy of mine told me once that the Army recruiters were pretty good about enlisting his rejects. And I've seen that in action personally when my youngest brother couldn't get into the Navy or the Marines, but the Army was ready to take him right then and there. His test scores weren't that good and he had some minor scrapes with the law. No felonies though.
 
It used to be they would take you with a criminal record Dave, but not anymore. NONE of the branches will. I can attest to that. When I have E-1-E-3's working for me now that have bachelor and masters degrees because the Officer ranks are to full. They aren't even accepting GED's anymore either. Back when I came in they were begging for anyone, but is interesting how much things change in not even 10 years. So if that guy wanted that kid to go in to the Marines that is a no go. It doesn't matter how physically fit you are, or any of that. They won't look twice.
