Justflight R44 as a paint subject. RE: Paint Templates

AeroPaint texture utility - create new liveries or edit the existing ones (external paint program required).

Couple pretty standard .psd files that come with it.
Has about 8 layers or so, lines come in light and dark samples for example.
One file for sides of fuselage, other for top, bottom, tail boom.
They are stored in a JustFlight folder in the main FSX directory.

Thanks for the fast reply guys. What I want to hear is that the actual model (mesh) layer is there.

I know you know what I mean, but just so we're clear.

OK, well, that tells me what I needed to know. Damn.
The mesh layer (to me) is the most important. With the type of schemes I like doing, I'd be chasing things more than I have patience without them.

Thanks again for checking them for me :salute:

no, the paintkit is one of the easiest kits to work with, i think over a weeks period a few yrs back i did about 40 paints with no fuss

Well, I wasn't going to say anything else.
Ole Boy asked if there was a mesh layer in the kit in a previous post, I was just answering his request.
But since You brought it up.... ;)

I totally agree with you, Matt.
The Robinson Helicopters are designed to be built at a lower cost to make them affordable.
Meaning less complex surfaces, means less time to build. Easy and affordable.
As you know, that's why Robinson punches out more of their helicopters each year than all other manufacturers combined.

The most complex surface on a R44 is the rounded nose, which is mostly plexiglass.
Otherwise it is basically a box with rounded edges. Okay a tube for the tail.

The paint kit has each surface of that model (box) nicely mapped.
And it's probably the most consistent and accurate in size between the various surfaces, as compared to some other addon makers paintkits, which use totally different scales between mapped surfaces.
I've never had any problem lining up stripes and curves, with JF's paint kit.

Here's a picture I 'Googled' to show as an example:
(Since I am heading out the door to go to work and this was the quickest solution for me to answer this post)

EDIT: Plus, if you map the Throttle to another axis, turn off that FSX governor (SHIFT+,), and work at keeping the engine and rotor in the 'green', it's a hoot to fly.
Only $15.30USD right now at JF too... http://www.justflight.com/product/flying-club-r44-helicopter-download
