Level Bombers dropping multi bombs

One of the bigg issues has always been the AI Level Bombers would only drop 1 bomb.Well I got my sg_betty to drop it's whole bombload ( 4x 250kg ) as a level bomber. I couldn't get a pic of it dropping them but there was 4 explosions on the ground. I had the bomber set to drop at 10000ft.

I still need to do more testing.

That's cool, and the AI bombs also pack a nice punch in a pinch. :mixedsmi:

I'm still checking it out. What I think is happening is 1 bomb is causing all the damage. I see only 1 bomb crater but 4 objects exploding. I had the Betty carry 4 bombs. When I used 6 Betty's I so about 20 explosions but only 6 bomb craters. Guess iot's back to the drawing board.
 
I did several missions with Thicko's Blenheim and the Locheed Hdson for my Malaya campaigns, where you fly in formation with ai planes. These airplanes definitlly drop only one bomb, regardless of the selected loadout.
So it would be interesting what is different with the SG Betty that makes several bombs appear, even if only one causes damage on the ground.
 
AI Bombs

Multiple bombs from AI aircraft have always been one of those Holy Grails of CFS 2. Perhaps MS designed the engine to only release one bomb from each AI aircraft back when frame rates were an issue with less powerful computers.

Several years ago, Tango Romeo (Fox Four Design Group) followed up on a good idea by PStrany to use a bomb that looked like multiple bombs when dropped. It requires only the .bgl file and objects.dp files and a simple update of the DP file of each AI aircraft to use it. You should be able to locate the original package for US bombers by searching for either: "Tango Romeo" or "ai_bombs.zip"

As I recal, there are also packages for British bombers.

I might also add that bombers with two bombays modeled into the mdl file (B-29 by Gnoopy) will usually drop a bomb from each bomb bay when used as an AI aircraft.
