Our yearly fund drive for bandwidth is here. Every little bit helps. I know some in here feel 5 bucks won't help but it does. Look at the bottom of the page and view how many visitors visit our site. If each one donated 5 bucks we would have well more than enough. We aren't are profit making site. All money is put towards maintenance, security,Henry sex change...ect..ect. Anyway your support in this matter is very important in keeping this site going. I know with the economy the way it is we are all tight right now. If anyone of you guys can spare a few bucks it sure would help....Mike

Any tips on a good internet money transfer service? I used PayPal some time ago but stopped when there was a lot of bad press about. Doing it over our bank here in Germany is difficult: we tried to transfer money to a cameraman who worked for us in Sydney and it took three (3!) months to finish the transaction properly!!!

Would old-fashioned cash in an envelope help?

payment stuff :wavey:

i dont have way of transferring cash via the net...

but stitz... do you mean i could just stick a few yuroes in an envelope and send to Ickie via mail?? that what you sayin?
:redf:

I think the problem for most Europeans is just that we don't really know how to undertake it technically. Everytime SOH calls up for donation I feel a little helpless. The easist way, imo, would be to know a bank account number along with IBAN and swiftnumber, then we could just transfer it.

well you can if you wanted it, but i'd recomend sending it to Douglas on the Isle of Man :wavey:

last time SOH took paypal (thats how i donated), so that was nice an easy, cant see a paypal button this year, but that could be because i'm blind or it just hasnt been put up yet?

EDIT: found the paypal bit :) http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/billspaypal.php?

i doubt that a swifttnumber is required?

all in all, "your post+1":jump:

Just set up an account for SOH donation and ask the bank to give their IBAN (international bank account number) and SWIFT code (sometimes called BIC) This is the bank identifier code and it's required for every international payment. The whole operation would go very quickly- Swift and Iban can just be asked at the desk or by phone, they all have it. I am sure this would raise the total number of payments from out the US very much, as it's the easiest way for everyone, surely here in Europe. Most people here don't have checks at all anymore, but many use home banking over computer. There is always an option for international payments. I could wire money from home within minutes if that information would be available.

I just was on the Paypal website and if I understand it correctly it requires a credit card. (Mastercard or Visa I read on the belgian site), and see, that is already the problem. Creditcards are not at all as popular and widespread in some european countries as they are in the US. Many people don't have one.
Iban and Swift code for international payment can be used by everyone here, either from home or via the self banking system that all banks in Europe have.

if i get the data that i need, i could just go into the bank and tell em to send X amount of money to the Y bank account in Z bank, and add the "donation by 110G" comment.

done.

credit cards... will probably never get one. :kilroy:

There ya go Mike & Ickie!! Hope it helps.. PayPal worked fine for me...

I set up a contest for the ones who don't have to way to mail it or don't have a credit card...either way don't think for a minute that SOH doesn't recognize and appreciate every penny each and every one who donates. It is also ok if ya a tad bit short on funds too...we all understand that too.The contest is for fun and a good way to include all members and have some fun too..Mike

Nope, I use PayPal all the time for international transactions and the payments are simply booked from my bankaccount. I never needed a credit card for it, just a asimple bank account is necessary!!!
