The Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread Part Deux.

Hurricane is HOT on the trail. Yes, B.P. is responsible for this little beast. A few hours more then I'll reveal the full identity.

(the other 303 that is)

Not being a lover of GA, as you know, I was still intrigued by this comment, and found out about the original 303 Clipper.

How come there are so few photos of this machine ? I expect Walter has some and will oblige!

Hi Mike :salute:

I am very sorry, but this is the only photo I have seen of the 303. I assume the original source was the Cessna company since the aircraft is photographed in flight
I have always wondered what could be behind the fact that in some cases only a single photo is ever made public, unless premature loss (crash) is involved . For military types I can understand some form secrecy. Cessna had several one-off aircraft of which I have only seen single photos (e.g. the Models 160, 187, 326).
Of a possible model 330 (a light twin said to have been registered N3764C) I have never seen a pic. So all forum members are herewith all cordially invited to share a photo of the Model 330 with us.

will post next challenge after John`s confirmation :jump:

Pietenpol Sport....here's the unedited pic.....
Anyone have addt'l info on this bird? If so, please share!

Not much, but you might get someplace with a bunch of hearty digging...

CF-AYX , listed as simply a Pietenpol
Registered to A. Reynard, then to K. Loud 18/07/36
Cert. of Registration # 1745

Reported as "Stored @ Langley Prairie, BC 10/41"

Sorry for the grainy pic. Best I could find.
I you see some familiarity with the ....., you are correct :icon_lol:

Walter, it's gone very quiet in here again, thanks, presumably, to your latest wee horror.

The fact that even you can only dig up a teeny blurred photo makes me think this must be a true obscurity - but surely people don't make jet trainers as one-offs - or do they ????

It is a near-clone of several Asian and East European types, (Yaks, HAIGS, etc) but I'm not able to pin it down. Anybody ?

I thought we'd got rid of these pesky 'thanks' ?

Hi Mike :salute:
Somewhat difficult to obtain reliable info from the country of origin.
This trainer is reported as the Dorna and could have been the first step to what became the Tavarze trainer of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force. The Dorna (btw there is also a company named Dorna that builds light planes, so possibly there is a connection) flew around 1995 and engine is reported as a non a/b GE J85. I have also seen reports that the Dorna may have been based upon the Pilatus PC-7.
This side view may give a better idea how the Dorna lookED like.

OPEN HOUSE, PLEASE

Corporate VIP transport anyone?

Ahhh, the HESA Dorna....the pic I have of it makes it look longer with a smaller canopy. The intake also appears to be much larger on my version. Maybe my pic is of a later version??

Hi John :salute:
I think your photo depicts the Tazarve, the final version. Possibly development was in stages with first the Dorna a single prototype around 1995, then a second prototype named Tondar around 1998 (never saw a picture of that one) and finally the JT2-2 Tazarve around 2000.
