Larry Hagman passes at 81

Love him or hate him, he was a fine actor.

I'll remember him most fondly in "I Dream of Jeanie." Of course Barbara Eden (Jeanie) was really the draw to that show for a boy in the 60s.

Good afternoon,

Not old enough to know him as J.R. Ewing, I remember him as the reluctant candidate from the movie "Primary Colors." It was only later that I learned about him in other contexts. :salute:

All the different acting gigs he did, I still like 'Deadly Encounter' the best.
I'm biased of course, its an all Rotary action 'Made for TV' type movie from the early 80's.
Has one of the best introductions to a helicopter movie. :icon_lol:

I know I'm really dating myself with this one, but my favourite recollection of Larry Hagman was his part as the interpreter in the 1964 movie, Fail-Safe.

I'd only been married a year, and took my wife to the theatre to see this B&W movie about the Cold War. I remember she was bored with it, but I found it fascinating -- the only time New York City was attacked with a thermonuclear device in a movie. I still shudder at the thought!

Yep, liked that one and Birds of Prey with David Jansen (traffic reporter versus bank robbers in helicopter); both good TV movies.

He did an outstanding job in Fail-Safe, didn't he? I enjoy that one every time I see it. Good acting, high drama....and the black and white adds to the setting of the mood.
 
Larry was great in "I Dream of Jeannie" as the long-suffering Maj. Nelson being put in all sorts of difficult situations by Jeannie. Anybody who can move from a comedy role like that to the evil and conniving J.R. Ewing is a darn good actor in my opinion. :applause:
