Disappeared stock CFS2 GSL objects....

Hi everybody,

I know something like this should not happen after all these years spent working with CFS2, but I managed somehow to have all the stock GSL objects deleted from my Pacific Theater install.

Now I have all the stock PTO runways bare naked, not even with a single palm tree standing, a sorry reminder of how CFS1 used to be.

Unfortunately, with all the Holyday eggnog, I cannot remember in which file they are stored, in order to extract it clean from the original CD and install it anew.

I did remember it has to do with the scenedb\afd files which I remove when I go flying outside of the PTO, but checked if the cfs2afd file is back in its proper folder and it was there. So I did not remember correctly.

Can anybody, please, help my poor memory data banks?

Thank you!

Sounds like somehow your layouts on the stock CFS2.GSL file got deleted. I tried uploading my backup for you to try but the attachment manager won't axccxept the file type, Perhaps you could pull it off the disc?

Odd.

If CFS 2 thinks there are missing objects, then you will get an error window for each missing object when it loads the scenery. It seems that CFS 2 is not even looking for the objects so perhaps your stock .gsl file is blank or empty.

Perhaps reinstalling your stock MS .GSL file with Martin's GSL manager will fix the problem. I can send you one if you need it.

I think Jagd has pinpointed the problem. You need to swap out your current cfs2.gsl file for the original stock version. It can be found inside the CFS2.CAB file on your CFS2 Disk#1.

If I may make a suggestion? I always keep a virgin cfs2 install on my hard drive. You know how it is with things that go:bump:in the night. Again, it has nothing to do with anything, but I saw a new smiley that I like. :focus:

Thank you!

Thank you very much gentlemen! :jump:

I am saving this page and I'll try to follow both Jagdflieger's and MaskRider's suggestions.

Jagd, I find this occurence very odd, too, since my PTO CFS2.gsl file never had a problem before.

I must have done something wrong installing the last GSL sceneries. Sometimes I do it in a hurry, to keep my pace with the incredible SOH addon production and trust all went ok. Then, weeks later, I find out something DID go wrong and I do not remember what I did. A bad habit indeed.

Unfortunately, I could not identify the stock gobs inside my PTO cfs2.gsl file with Wright's GSLMan.exe. Is there a way to identify them and see if they are missing or what?

At any rate, all I have to do is grab a clean stock file and then add back into it all the addon PTO GSL objects.

A nice job lined up for me.......:caked:

Cheers!

Kelti,

these are the stock layouts, rename it to stock.zip and use GSLman to put them back in. Extracting these was the first thing I did when I got GSLMan, just knew I'd cock something up, lol.

Thanks, JDT!

This is what I'll do tonight instead of being a couch potato!

Cheers!
