Hi all

Does anyone know if there is any good Hawaii scenery out there? Specifically a set that covers all the islands?

Thanks

Chris

Haven't tried the Newport scenery, but I do believe they have photoscenery for Molokai, Maui and Lihue. UTX might also help if you're into vector based scenery.

And as horrible as Microsoft Flight was, it does have a fairly good rendition of Hawaii.

I dunno, doesn't have my Hawaii wind farms listed? Of course, I could email that to Robert... :mixedsmi: Available at Avsim, btw.

I'm hoping to make an updated mesh for Hawaii "some time this year"!

I don't know how Robert manages to maintain that list! :icon_eek:
Especially for FSX and FS2004 both.
I don't have that much energy. :icon_lol:

I assume that Flight uses a different format for its scenery meaning Alaska & the Hawaiian Islands can't be converted or used with FSX?

Photoreal Maui

This guy "AveMetal" from Spain (a.k.a. "Escuadrón Cruz de San Andrés") is making a wonderful photoreal freeware rendition of Maui (and nearby islands Molokai, Lanai & Kahoolawe). Big download, but worth the trouble. This is version 0.9. - Version 1.0 and Hawaii Big Island are coming soon...

With Kauai by Richard "IronHand" Sorochak (freeware @ flightsim) and Oaho by Megascenery (payware), Hawaii looks very sexy in FSX now. Happy new year!

Orbx is going to release a global package that will substitute default textures with theirs. They had a preview shot of Hawaii in their forum and it looked pretty good.

This was not in the Non Airport list at the freeware page but this site....

http://fsx.o.oo7.jp/

Has some good scenery of Waikiki and it comes in two formats, one for default and one for Mega Scenery. To find it scroll down the left side and click the HI link, you'll see some screenies of it installed. It's a Japanese site but it's in English and Japanese so it's not hard to understand. The guy also put out Las Vegas and several cities in Japan, namely Tokyo, Kobe and Kyoto. I've got all of them installed and the frame rate hit is very small, at least smaller than some of the commercial products.

Ironscenery Kauai. Probably the scenery I use most, with very dramatic views and generally good weather. Great way of escaping the crappy weather we're suffering in western europe...

Owen.

PS: "generally good weather", i.e. better than the nasty clouds and strong winds you see in this pic...

Wow, that is incredible. I'll have to get some of those. Any word on when OrbX is going to release their wonderful world-wide scenery? I'll make sure to buy it when it comes out.
