If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Miramar Flight Club has asked me to open our doors to the public. We are at our heart a flying club with a virtual military undertone. We operate an FSOpen server where all are allowed to come and enjoy, and we offer the ability to create and manage flight groups and squadrons in a multiplayer environment. Part of that resides in our teamspeak server which we are quite happy to adjust for group needs.
If you have any questions or are just plain curious, please stop by and say hello.. Our website is http://fsx-miramar.webs.com/ and the doors are always open..
hope to see you there..
Pam

Thanks Francois.. Diamonds in the rough every one of em :;lol:; great guys.. Love flying with them..

:icon_lol: Next to strikehawk...i'm the roughest LOL. But seriously, almost all of us are over 50 and veterans, very easy going. I got a hangar, and then some, of warbirds..come on over and fly...its an open club, so ya can fly and not be a member if you wish.

Have checked out the web site - thanks Pam - but it looks like you gotta be a member first in order to access the info you need to fly MP??

I used to fly some very occasional MP with Mal998 and some other great guys - quite a bit of Nav ops - but it faded out over time and I miss very much having that opportunity, particularly naval aviation of the kind this group are into. Not really into the serious role playing, flight logging or other strict protocol stuff though. Prefer it to be completely casual and fun if possible and not have to worry about not addressing someone else as "sir", etc.

Teamspeak can be accessed via the front page (lower right)

Server is listed in FSopen under "pops". Casual or vMil as you desire...no need to do the sir bit...

Thanks. Will log into TS at some point when my better half is not around! What time slots are people most likely to be on?

The only ones that have say "sir" are the under 18 crowd and that depends on my level of sobriety at the moment. As Warhawk and Warchild have said it's a laid back club, lot's of flying if that's your thing and lots of fun at any time. As for accessing the files and other pages, that just the way it was set up nothing is really hidden it's just a way of controlling certain assets such as the KC-135 that Razbam authorized our members and only our members to have for free.

This weekend is a CSAR evolution in Vietnam and once we fill our go birds slots we will add anyone else that is there and has the Vietnam era scenery installed. If there is a big interest I or one of my evil minions will start coming up with WWII missions for our weekend entertainment. Hope to see most of you one our server:salute:

Pam, I'm going to hijack this thread for a bit if you don't mind.

As I posted last night we executed a Combat Search and Rescue event this morning which aside from a loss of one Jolly due to mechanical failure, somehow in mid game the elevator axis reversed:isadizzy:, went off according to the timetable set. Since it has been posted today that WWII events be planned and executed here I wish to invite SOH Members that are interested in Vietnam / Cold War era operations to any and all events planned by the MFC. I am getting the next event in the works for Brown Water Navy operations in the Mekong Delta. Assets planned will be Piglets Bronco, PBR, and Mohawk. I still need to get a good free H-1 as I can't expect members and guests to use the ND Charlie model. Over then next couple of weeks I will post both here and on the MFC site on the progress and any files needed.

There was also two concerns about having to have a membership to access the site and files. Let me take each on it's own merits,

1 Membership, as I stated earlier, there are certain files that were gifted to us by Razbam as well as files in the beta or earlier stage of development and are for the use of the club only. This should not be a concern as I am a member of several sites and forums that require membership before you can even get past the welcome page in some cases. Being an owner of two Webs.com pages myself I can attest to having my monthly bandwidth sucked dry by everyone and their brother in a few days and having to put up with advertising and slower D/L speeds for the rest of the month so there is also a monetary incentive to secure access. This does not however preclude a member of staff form sharing a file with some one whose opinion is valued. We, I know myself for sure, want to know what others think of our work as it is the only way to improve, we are just careful as to what gets out lest we become know for shoddy work, which we do not do.

2 Donations, donations are on a voluntary basis by members that can afford to give so another member does not go without a needed item of software, hardware and the like. It is an in house benevolence fund that is updated to indicate contributions and debits and is visible to every member in the group. I want to say again, this is not a requirement of membership but a way of taking care of members that are in need of help to further their endeavors in support of the the club and the FS community in general.

Warhawk can elaborate further if need be but at the end of the day MFC is made of folks that have a love of flight, Naval Aviation and are interested in the period from 1965-1995 in general. We have a good time, some of the members I have known from my noob period in FS9, Navy Chief is one, to guys I flew with at FS Top Gun up to the group we have now. These friendships are the reason I still look forward to starting FSX, I know that I am going to have a good flight when they are around.
