• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

dont know how.just downloaded a plane and even that is in notepad form,no folder.gettin pissed off.

I no longer have Vista but if I remember correctly, it has to do with file types and views.
I always found help just by googling a short phrase about the problem. Vista has a plethera of websites with answers to just about all of the problems. Hint: stay away from MS Vista answers websites, they are not helpful at all. I will go out and look for the ones i used most and come back and post them.
 
Can you post a screen shot of your My Documents folder view- like this one?

I am having a heck of a time figuring how you could have gotten your folders associated with notepad. I don't even believe "Open with" is part of the context menu when you right click on a folder.

The reason I want to see a screenie is so I can tell whether the folder icons are still there or if all folders now display a notepad icon.

Are you sure you didn't just accidentally associate zip files with Notepad?

how do i post a screenie maskrider.i opened the folder using the open with thingy and used notepad.since then all the folders i downloaded are buggered.
 
Do you have a "My Documents" icon on your desktop?

If yes, double click it. When it opens does it look similar to the screen shot I posted?

FYI to post a screen shot click on the Print Screen key. This will place an image of your computer screen onto your clipboard. Then go to MS Paint (all programs/accesories) and paste it in (edit/paste). Then save it as a jpg file and upload it to your forum post as an attachment.
