Yes you can get some great shots here. The mc d's parking lot off the end of the runway is a good place also this airport has a dedicated viewing area rightnetzerot to the touchdown point for those pilots who get it right. Have to shot from the roof of you car or through a chain link fence but it's doable.
also you can tune your radio to receive tower communications so you know what's coming.

These shots remind me of Denver Stapleton's 26L back in the '60s........a great place to take your date late at night

........after dinner, a movie, and the ice-cream parlor.........:mixedsmi:

There is a Place just off runway 25R 25L That You can see them perfect and the airport fence is not in the way:salute:

i have a Scanner i can hear them on

McCarran is one busy airport. My wife and I were in Vegas a few years ago and from our hotel window we had a great view of the approach pattern to McCarran. Jets coming in at all hours of the day and night.

Great pics!

Hey Lucky Dog,

A little off topic and far from Nevada, but when the family was in the Denver area in the 60s, we used to drive to the east side of Stapleton and watch the planes come and go. I saw my first Boeing 707 landing on runway 26. It was a big deal to see one back then.

Calclassic.com has a great Stapleton International of the 60s available. It's good for lots of memories.

sorry to go OT but I'm old and senile......

Jag.........if you happened to see a day-glo flowered Ford Econoline with a sign that read: "If this van's a'rockin', don't come a knockin'".........that was me.

Ha, ha! Yeah, I saw ya tied up outside the van!:jump:

You know, I bet it was the late 50s that I saw that first 707 come in. It was in the paper that one was going to land and there was a crowd of people there to see it. My mom, more than my dad, loved airplanes so that was a good excuse to make the drive to see that Boeing come in. At my tender age of the time, I realized that it was an event of some importance.

Amazing that those 737s in Cirrus' photos still pretty much look like the original 707s, minus a couple of engines and with winglets of course.
