Abacus Flight deck 6?

Daveroo

Members +
im wondering if the Abacus flight deck 6 would be worth it?....i had "5" for FS9 and never really did understand it or use it..and "6" is said to be updated as of now.its supposed to work with what FSX acceleration allready has...so look at this from the abacus site..

[h=3]Launch[/h]Hurry onto the deck. It's launch time and you're next in line. Taxi into position over the catapult. The launch team connects you. The steam is flowing and the catapult armed. Set your brake. From his crouching position, the yellow jacketed shooter gives you thumbs up.

It's game time.
Using the Catapult Launch and Recovery system included with the Acceleration expansion, the Flight Deck 6 carrier operations put you in control. Dozens of missions start you on the deck of the USS Harry S Truman in various locatins around the world in a Flight Deck 6 aircraft of your choice. Once you start the missions, you arm the Launch Assist (SHIFT + I), set the throttle and flaps and release (SHIFT + SPACEBAR) and you are tossed off the end of the carrier in seconds.

seeing the line "Catapult Launch and Recovery system included with the Acceleration expansion" makes me wonder...is this the best bet for a BEGINNER? to carriers...or does acceleration allready have what we need ?...like if i have my choice..id like to fly on and off the carrier that sits off san fransico...not all over the world...does FSX/Acceleration and some other addon have something to make that carrier work?..or can it be replaced with one that you can land on and get launched off of?

Trust me on this, you don't want it. There are freeware models never mind payware models that are many years ahead of what abacus is offering. As for having a carrier off San Fransisco, AI carriers is free and allows you to place any ship or formation anywhere you like using a menu system that is no more complex than the ATC menu.

Aside from a handfull of missions and one or two aircraft that arn't available elsewhere at the moment I can see nothing that isn't eather included in acceleration by default or easaily surpassed by freeware and payware alternatives.

Nothing I see from Abacus is even remotely close to "good." Many of their add-ons look like alright freeware for FS2004 at best.

ok thanks guys.....i said that about the carrier off SF...i know there was one there in FS9..but come to think of it...i have no clue about FSX...lol..

How are you coming along with your Accel carrier flights Dave? If you're interested I have done up a carrier track file that has the Nimitz, Ark Royal, Victorious, and Clemenceau freeware carriers all steaming in Lake Michigan. Having them all in one area makes them easy to find and you can jump from ship to ship doing launches and traps.

Is this a file you can share? I'm sure a LOT of SOH members would love this! NC

Give me a couple of days to put together a little readme and package it up then I'll get it uploaded here. Need to get the new Charles De Gaulle installed and after some test crashes, uh....landings I mean:icon_lol:, make up some tracks for it also.

Somehow missed those Alaska tracks, thanks for the heads-up and for putting them together, will have to get those downloaded.
