Uss Enterprise scenery

FSX68

Banned
I read thru the manual for the SDB Enterprise scenery activation and all went well with that however I see that one can load a flight situation related to the Enterprise and you will be in a F18
or whatever flying along and on approach the the Big E for landing. I can substitute other aircraft and complete the same flight. What I was trying to do was land in a helo and save that
flight and then I could load that saved flight and start off on the deck of the Big E where I could either:
1. Continue with same aircraft and still on the flight deck like it was when I saved it.
2. Load that saved flight and switch to another A/C (still on flight deck)

Any of the above I get what ever aircraft I saved and it will not be on the deck with the engines off. Instead, it will load my saved A/C and it will be flying along closer to the
Big "E" then it was in the original flight. I'd wanted to able to start off on the deck of the E and do cold start and then launch the bird.
Is there a way to do this?

when you start FSX I would like to be able to see a carrier(s) in a list of aircraft you can fly I could do that in Flight Deck 4.

Oh, I DO hope this can be achieved. What a cool thing to be able to do! Pete

You cannot save on the deck and return to the flight with you sitting on deck , its a FSX thingy because the carrier is a moving object which reminds i better edit and post my A4 carrier trials :cool:.... :icon_lol:<input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><input jscode="leoInternalChangeDone()" onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">

Save the flight in a paused condition with the aircraft pointed to the same heading as the carrier. Load that flight, un-pause it, and note roughly how far the ship travels out from under the bird.
Now comes the work!
Open the *.FLT in notepad and scroll to [Options] and change Pause=True to False

These should hold it in place. Adjust the decimal Seconds to fine tune the resulting position. Don't use my position! Adjust yours.
[SimVars.0]
Latitude=N24° 49' 35.75" //< moves N-S
Longitude=E56° 57' 50.65" //> moves E-W
Altitude=+000071.26 //Do not adjust
Pitch=-0.95944595750009409 //Do not adjust
Bank=0.34877430000134813 //Do not adjust
Heading=160.17324893462592 //You can adjust this after you get the bird spotted.
PVelBodyAxis=0 //"0" on *Vel* entries stops motion
BVelBodyAxis=0
HVelBodyAxis=0
XVelBodyAxis=0
YVelBodyAxis=0
ZVelBodyAxis=0
SimOnGround=False

It takes a while to find the Lat/Lon points to get it exact, but, it can be done...Don

Dino's F-14 parked in a saved CVN-65 flight:

WOW Thanks Don.

I know you can't do that with USS Nimitz & USS Eisenhower Version 2.0 by Javier Fernandez either.

I saved a flight and when I went back to load that saved flight there was my F 35 parked about 80~ feet in the air and no flight deck beneath it
needless to say the plane fell to the ocean rather quickly. :icon_lol:

Edit:

Latitude=N24° 49' 35.75" //< moves N-S
Longitude=E56° 57' 50.65" //> moves E-W

can't get that middle number ie 49' and 57" when in flying mode.

<input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><input jscode="leoInternalChangeDone()" onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">:icon_lol: That really makes me smile ... WICKED ! thanks for that :cool:

Just to add; If you like the results, and don't want to have to go through all of the spotting for another aircraft, you can duplicate it.

Copy the *.FLT, *.FSSAVE, and *.WX to desktop. Give it a new name, cut/paste back into ...\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files.
Open it in notepad and change:
[Main]
Title=New Name of file
Ex: Title=Grumman F-14D VF-114 Parked USS Enterprise CVN-65 Gulf of Oman, becomes; Title=Vought F-8B VMF-251 Parked USS Enterprise CVN-65 Gulf of Oman

and...
[Sim.0]
Sim= //Change to the aircraft.cfg Title= line of the target aircraft.
Ex: Sim=F-14D Tomcat VF-114 becomes; Sim=ALPHA F-8 Crusader VMF-251

The only difference I have seen, is a slight change in aircraft position due to the visual model's reference points not being the same...Don

Same flight. Different plane:

I have most, if not all, of the TweakFSX utilities; including TweakFlight.

I'm thinking that software MAY be capable of accomplishing all the mods necessary to save custom flights such as this. I emailed the software support for TweakFlight. They are pretty good at responding, and when I get an answer I will post it here.

Keeping fingers crossed. NC

I'd sure be interested if that will work and take all the guess work out of saving custom flights...Thanks for the info. :engel016:

I did get a reply from the folks at TweakFS. I am certain this software will accomplish this task. I need to do some experimenting to see for myself. Although I own a registered copy, I believe they allow you to try the software for 30 days:)

That's very interesting Don. Mind if I edit your instructions and add them to the SDB Support Forum?
:ernae:
Go for it! :salute:

BTW: The saved flight must have originated from an existing flight, be it one of SDB's included one, or, one saved enroute to a one off custom carrier track traffic.bgl(AIBT).
If the carrier itself is not on a dedicated route(traffic.bgl), it will not show up. AI Carriers "injected" ships are not on dedicated routes.

Let me know how it works out for ya....

Thanks. :kilroy:
