Saitek X-52 Pro?

Does anyone use a Saitek X-52 Pro for FSX? Ups/downs and general thoughts are welcome. Looking to replace my toasted Thrustmaster AB2 with something of better quality, but that won't break the bank.

The X-52 pro is average quality except the awful cable that connects the throttle to the joystick. The connection took less than a year to start going bad. The little mouse/cursor thing on it ended up bugging out all the time so I had to disable it. I ended up getting rid of the joystick and just using the throttle from it. I got a CH Products joystick to go along with it.

I am very frustrated by the quality of consumer joysticks. CH Products makes the best consumer-grade stuff, though they go bad after a while too.

For the price I can't say I would recommend it.

I have had 2 X52s and on my 3rd.The x52 and rudder pedals are a good deal imo.Yeah I have had all the thrustmasters and staring at a Warthog gathering dust in a box.I just grew tired of all the programming and when I stopped flying the DCS stuff I like to keep it simple.Finding parts on some of the high end sticks was a pita but finding a new X52 was easy.
Also had some yokes but a stick can cover all the bases.Vintage,WW2,helis,fighters...
My first X52 lasted for 5 years until flying helis finally wore out the spring.Ran to BB and got another that lasted 3 or so till I dropped it and broke it.So as long as you do not drop it on a hard wood floor you are good.
I recently noticed BB did not carry them so I went online and bought another X52 stick and throttle if/when this one dies or I kill it. I should be good to go for another 10 years.
I looked at the pro a while back but I have read on a few forums that its not worth the extra money and some say its got issues the regular does not.

Based on some previous feedback, I bought the X52 and not the X52 Pro and it has been working pretty good for the last few years. I replaced my old thrusty X36 because the software would not work with Windows 7. The software for the X52 is a bit quirky sometimes.

I have my 2nd X52 Pro now. The 1st one had the same issues as mentioned by Kiwikat: Crappy connection cable and mouse cursor giving inputs while centered so I disabled it too. Just after warranty expired on the 1st one I had, most of the throttle buttons died. No issues (yet) with the new one but it is just 2 months old now. The reason I still wanted the X52 is it's price, the stick twist rudder control and the programmability.

With regards to the mouse cursor on the X52......is there a chance that it could be causing my PC mouse cursor to move on its own across my screen? And if so, how do I disable it? Thanks. NC

Go to the Saitek Control Panel > Deadzones Tab and set the Mouse X and Mouse Y deadzones to max. This effectively blocks the mouse cursor inputs and should solve the cursor running wild across the screen problem.
