Mauro's planes mod pack uploaded!

A good day to everybody! :wavey:

As promised earlier, I just uploaded updated propeller textures for Mauro Giacomazzi's Hawker Hurricane and Messerschmitt Bf109 series, recently re-uploaded here at SOH for preservation. The prop texture update consists of some additional extra thin details to enhance the visual effect of a spinning propeller. This pack gathers all of my previous uploads for Mauro's aircrafts in a single pack for everybody's convenience.

VERY IMPORTANT:

I replaced both of Mauro's BRI and GER pilots with Martin Wright's British Pilot, William Dickens' Pilots, Wolfi's US pilots and Shessi/Wolfi's Luftwaffe Pilot in all aircrafts. This will free up places in CFS2 \AIRCRAFT root folder, limited to about 100 total, because the above pilot figures are true payloads, while Mauro's pilots are modeled as planes.

Shessi just created yeasterday a splendid Luftwaffe pilot using Wolfi's FSDS2 pilot source files, and I immediately placed it in Mauro's Bf109 cockpits, but I see he hasn't uploaded his pack yet!! And I haven't included it here, as I was expecting him to post it first. :eek:

Therefore, if you want to see Shessi/Wolfi's German Pilot you must temporarily download it from the link posted below, until Shessi will upload his definitive pack. I just attached a screenshot below (1st screenie, 2nd row, the other three have Wolfi's US Pilot instead), where you can appreciate how it fits greatly inside of Mauro's Bf109E-4N. So sorry for this incovenience! :redface:

As usual, for each aircraft you'll find two alternative blurred prop textures to choose from. The alternative dp files are organised as follows:

ETO HURRICANE (MkI, IA, IIC night fighter) and SEA HURRICANE (MkIA, MkIIC) collection

  1. Mauro's BRI pilot replaced with Martin Wright's British Pilot (cold climate ETO Hurries). Mauro's Hurricane MkI equipped with Watts propeller has a proper 2-blade texture set.
  2. Green Ghost's style gauge-controlled exhaust effect.

MTO/SEAC HURRICANE (MkIIB Trop, IIC Trop, IID Trop) and SEA HURRICANE MkIB (Sea Hurri MkIIC has payloads with MW's pilot) collection

  1. Mauro's BRI pilot replaced with William Dickens' RAAF pilot in tropical flight uniform.
  2. stock bombs replaced with William Dickens' Beaufighter series RAF bombs;
  3. stock bomb pylons replaced with Cryingtoto's SpitPack wing pylons;
  4. stock droptanks & pylons replaced with Thicko's Hurricane droptanks/pylons modified by Bearcat246 for FS9 AH's Hurricane conversion pack. For the MkIIC Trop I included an extra dp with dark sky blue droptanks & pylons, instead of light grey, this will match Sopwith Chameleon's beautiful desert camo repaints for this model. This dp can be adapted to Mauro's MkIIB Trop as well, again repainted with Sopwith Chameleon's desert camo skin;
  5. SEAC MkIIC Trop and Sea Hurri MkIIC have additional payloads from Cryingtoto's Spitpack (M10 rocket launchers) and Ground Crew's RAF weapons (60lb aerial rockets);
  6. Green Ghost's style gauge-controlled exhaust effect.

RUSSIAN Hurri MkIIC Trop and MKIID Trop "tankbuster". 03/2002 VVS-RKKA repaints by Vladimir Gonchar (vvgonchar@mtu-net.ru) found at http://www.flightsim.com

  1. Mauro's BRI pilot replaced with Martin Wright's British Pilot;
  2. stock bombs replaced with Thicko's Ilyushin Il-2 Sturmovik series VVS FAB 100kg bomb and RS82 rockets;
  3. stock droptanks & pylons replaced with Thicko's Hurricane droptanks/pylons modified by Bearcat246 for FS9 AH's Hurricane conversion pack;
  4. Green Ghost's style gauge-controlled exhaust effect.

MESSERSCHMITT BF109E-3, E-4, E-7 Trop, F-4 and F-4 Trop collection

  • Mauro's GER pilot replaced with three different pilot figures for you to choose according to what looks better for you:

--> a Luftwaffe pilot created by Shessi from Wolfgang Faber's (Wolfi) FSDS2 source files
--> Wolfi's US Pilot (from his SB2C Helldiver)
--> William Dickens' Japanese pilot

Again, this frees a place in CFS2 \AIRCRAFT root folder, because all of the above pilot figures are true payloads, while Mauro's pilot is modeled as a plane.

For Mauro's E-7 Trop, being the E-7 the only Emil with Jabo/droptank capabilities, while any other E-4 equipped with bombs is purely fictional, F-4 and F-4 Trop:

  1. stock droptank/ventral pylon replaced with P.Rebuffat's Bf109 300 litre Ger droptank/pylon;
  2. stock bombs replaced with Paul Rebuffat's German 50kg bombs/carrier and Dbolt's SC250 and SC500 Ger payloads;
  3. Green Ghost's style gauge-controlled exhaust effect.

99% of the alternative payloads/pilots I used here are available here at SOH, part of other "must have" great addons ya'll should already have in your hangars. In the pack you will find indications about where to find all of them, anyway.

I hope you will enjoy it!
Cheers!

Kelti,

Thank you so much for these, and yes, we both can't stay away from tinkering for very long at all!

Kelti,

Thanks for your (and Shessie's) hard work, love what you've done with the dps. As much as I enjoy Mauro's Hurricanes, I never quite felt comfortable with the placement of the 40mm gun pods on his MkIId, it seemed they were too far away from the fuselage. Photos I found in the Hurricane in Action book by Squadron/Signal Publications confirmed my hunch. Luckily, Mauro had the gun pods mapped to their own texture so I was able to "alpha" them out. I replaced the pods with ones I found in an older version of a Hurricane found at Simviation by (surprise, surprise) Mauro and Corrado. Furthermore, photos showed the single .303 in each wing was inboard of the gun pods. After locating the pods as best I could using the available photos, I adjusted the muzzle flashes for both the .303s and 40mm. Here are before and after pics:(Sorry, they displayed in reverse!)

Edit: The .303s were OUTBOARD of the pods, NOT inboard. My bad.

P. Rebuffat's Ger. 50kg bombs/carrier

Where can I find Rebuffat's German 50 kg bombs /carrier? I have found his 250, 300, 500kg bombs, and D-bolts weapons. I have looked under most of his bf-109's. These mods are great!!!!

Hi there!

This sounds interesting! I too found strange that Mauro's extreme accuracy failed somewhat with the placement of the 40mm pods under the MkIIDT wings. All the pictures I saw and some rare desert war footage showing low level Tankbuster Hurries attack, shoved that the pods were closer to the fuselage. The muzzle flash of those anti-tank weapons was awesome!

Since Ju87G's "Panzerknacker" operated in North Africa as well, has anybody thought to do a desert camo repaint of Alpha's Ju87G?

The MkIIDT you speak about is the older Giacomazzi/La Posta DAF aircraft? And the pods came as separate weapons from the aircraft? Mmmmmmm.............I never downloaded that very old, almost CFS1-like model, I think I am going after it!

TW, why don't you upload your mods, so that we can all enjoy your work?

Thank you everybody for your praises: you're all welcome!

Hi Kelti,

I would be happy to upload the dp for the adjusted gun pods. It is a modification of your dp, may I have you permission to use it? Additionally, as long as I give credit, I wonder if I might include Mauro and Corrado's gun pods?

Mauro's CFS2 work is of public domain

Hi Kelti,

TW

Of course, TW!

If you include the pods, we won't need to go searching for them. Include also the alpha textures to hide the mdl pods in the MkIIDT and, by the way, the dp is not mine but Mauro's. I only changed hardpoint figures to place the new payloads and added exhaust smoke effect entries. So, no permission is needed here.

I would even go further asking if any of our mdl masters, Allen for example, could delete the pods from the mdl, allowing a cleaner way to load them via dp as any other payload, which, in turn, would produce a better framerate.

As to Mauro's work, he long since declared it "public domain", so we can work on it as we please without asking permission for re-uploading it, although giving proper credits is always a good practice. I consider it a form of due respect for anybody's hard, free work.

Cheers!
