The Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread Part Deux.

Its most probably the famous Ilya Vityaz also and perhaps better know, under the name of its designer Sikorsky S-11. The Ilyia Mourometz (Sikorsky S-22 was based on this design.

The Ilya Vityaz it is, however it's 'official' designation was the S-21. The S-11 was a single engine monoplane. Over to you Huub. :icon29:
 
I hope all is well with Huub, and that it's good events that kept him out.
Unfortunately with this delay I will no longer be able to run the next challenge. I'll have little net access the next 24h or so.
So, when Huub confirms, open house please.
 
A Farman would have been far too easy. The design is 100% based on a Farman, but the number of added control surfaces should have given you a clue. It is an attempt by Boleslaw Bronislawski to improve the controls without infringing Wright patents.

The official name for the aircraft is Bronislawski biplane one and considered to be a Polish aircraft, however Bronislawski worked in France.

So Dan was right! Sadly he can't provide a new challenge so the next mystery can be posted by anyone who feels like it.

A search for the Transavia Airtruk in the background led to the Danmarks Flygmuseum in Stauning (A long way from Australia!), and a search for their website led me to the HT-1 aka Hollschmidt 222.
Powered by two VW 1200 engines apparently, but my Danish is not that great.. ;)
 
I like a good bit of detective work, Ferry, and you nailed it. A visit to the superb Danish museum will be illustrated in the Photo forum shortly.........:icon29:

This must be post 1913 as I have a good archive to that point. Between 1914 and about 1918 I have some holes!
