CK,

I don't understand your accident. You say the VW pulled out of a car parts store parking lot and I presume then you were riding your motorcycle on the public street. Therefore, it seems then that the fault in the accident should have been assigned 100% to the driver of the VW. So, why are you liable for all these medical bills? Why are not those costs being paid by that VW driver's insurance? Or, did that drive not have insurance? If so, did he go to prison for driving without insurance?

You can't squeeze blood from a turnip!
In 1982 I had $52,000.00 in medical expenses, for years I had no problems because of the won lawsuit but in 1990 I was billed for the medical expenses because the person responsible had passed away (BROKE). I didn't pay-off that debt until 1998, the same year I also paid off my home, it was a great year. My brother and my business had a big year with the HOT technology of Satellite communications delivery systems going wild.

I retired and we sold the business in 2008, but the 'S' hit the fan and many of our stock investments went south. My brother (three back to back tours in Vietnam) started to have problems with PTSD after his retirement and the death of his wife, so now we live together in my house and spend some time in his house in Bisbee. He's on SSI and has veteran benefits but has no other income, I still work when I can in the telecommunications trouble shooting industry picking up jobs no one else wants to do.

We live on a string and my health issue just put us a bit over the line and I didn't want to go in debt and overdraw my already taped bank account. I thought after starting CFC and SOH web sites and with Ickie and I paying for them for years and my continued support to SOH was worth something, and I needed HELP!

I feel great about the site and the people here, for the last 8 years the community has paid the bills (not Ickie and Me) and kept SOH on-line. Along the way SOH has helped me and many of the other original founders as well as staff and community members in need. Our donations have gone to the Red Cross, bought gas cans and generators after hurricanes, our community cares and shows it.

Again thanks, your donations allowed me to get my head fixed. I already have restored typing, and being able to read normally as a benefit. Plus my brain loves the increased input and has been working overtime, or is it just being able to see with two eyes again?

CK, I was just telling my wife what a great community this is and how we pull together when someone needs help. I'm glad I was able to help you in your time of need. It sure is comforting to know that if I ever needed help, there are people here who would be willing to help.

as i said before..im happy to see you are on the mend..the "news" of your brother is concerning to me..allways bothers me to hear of our veterans who went over seas and were able to come home alive,like your brother ,3 tours,now sick (yes i believe PTSD is an illness and should be treated more aggressively by not just our government,but the medical establishment) and basiaclly getting screwed by getting stuck with bottomline SSI or SSD...they are worth much more to this country than that...

P.S. This government and medical establishment sucks with what they do to our most VALUED Citizens, our service men and women....

Sadly, our country has far too many of those kinds of losers! And the tally of them is increasing! Deadbeats with no desire to pay for their own lives and be responsible for their own actions are killing us. It was your unlucky draw to have encountered one. Very sad!
