FSX Douglas C-117D Skytrooper

Time to haul freight! Air 500 C-FALL arriving soon in the library. Based on Gman's clean white and grey with a tailplane commandeered from the clean grey one.

This is a sweet aircraft.... and freeware! Wow!

And everyone your paints are awesome... I think I downloaded all of them. I really like the dingy and dirty blue air force paint, and the clean half alum / half white by gman... awesome! I will be also downloading your metal paints.

I'll probably do the RXP gns mods too.

So far I also noticed the RMI bug (being off center) and also their stock Garmin appears to not have standby entries in the VC. At the moment it tunes the active frequency - it should tune the frequency highlighted in teal, then the user swaps that to active.

.
Ranger: Many thanks for C-FALL; I'll be putting that to much use in the Orbx's Yukon / Northern BC !!

GMan: Thanks most deeply for making so much of all this possible!

a bit more work on the Canedo aircraft:

I have received the metal textures from G, so on to the home stretch...

What a lovely model of my favorite Dak. 390 hrs and change PIC on the super 3, I love that machine, best out of all the 3's. Fantastic paints John, Jankees and every one! Many thanks

WIP of the Navy Chuting Stars Super 3. If anyone has additional shots...i.e. wing shots, I'd appreciate those. I've only got Wings Palette and a small side photo to work from. I have no wing details.
This would have been a very well maintained airplane, so I've made it super clean...very little wear and oil. I'm assuming she was detailed before every performance.
All input is appreciated.

Gman, you may have already seen these pics of the Chuting Stars plane. Blue paint changes shade depending on the sky in the pics. Yellow looks to be a little different from what you have, maybe a RGB number around 250/192/68 or so. "US NAVY" on wings tapers to smaller letters toward the wing tips. I don't even know how to do that in Paint Shop Pro. :icon_lol:

Holy mackerel, that looks beautiful! Please tell me how you tapered the "US NAVY" lettering on the wings.

Not sure in Paint Shop Pro. I don't have that one.

In Photoshop or Image Ready select the area with a mask, hit the V key and use the nodes to transform. If you select the node while holding the control key you can do the perspective shift.

A few tweaks on color and details...the wings are a guess based on Wings Palette side shot. Still looking for more photos.
This one is close to being ready...

Looks like you have it right.
I would think it is really close to what the Blue Angels use, since it appeared to be a similar paint job....
