What they're thinking!!
I thought I would show off Manfred's slow startup in this video. Also, create a nice startup effects (beta) with a pop in the exhaust. You really have hear it to notice, but it's there.
Thanks for the nice videos screenshots and provided information.
Gman, when I look at the texture size I understand the lay-out has changed due to which the old textures can't be used any more.
Is the lay-out still similar to the old version, but are the fuselage textures now (only) merged?
Thanks for the reply,
Huub
Tufun, does the starting sound kick in just a second or so after the prop starts to turn ? I might be imagining it, but if so, can it be tweaked ?
EDIT: Also, is that FTX England you are using ? If so, ACG's Duxford can be made to blend in far better by going to Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery\ACG IWM Duxford FSX\scenery and removing files Duxford1.bgl to Duxford8.bgl ( 8 files in total ). It works in winter too...not perfect, and there is a slight elevation issue in the south east of the airfield, but it does look far more natural.
I get on these kicks where I fly tubes, just to keep the math and procedures tuned up. My favorites are the old radial birds. I've got quite a few C-47, DC3 payware types that I fly fairly regular. The thing I like about Manfred's C-117/C-47 is the fact that I don't have to paint half a dozen tiles to get a really nice skin. It's a one shot deal and the flying model is as good as anything I've got.
If Manfred opts for a high end VC...it's a pure winner.
I'm not sure what skins he wants for the re-release, so I'm improvising as I develop the paint kit. Here's some update shots of the AF Search and Rescue circa '47 with weathering and new (again) bump maps. I opted to add the propeller warnings etc. even though the source art didn't show it.

seems like the spinners are a little wobbly?
I saw that... no biggie... fixed! (ball-peen hammer)![]()
I went ahead and looked at the starter file and found that was indeed a delay in the beginning with no sound. So what I did is grabbed the starter sound from this video and edit for FSX. My first sound edit... always wanted to do some custom sounds!
