Manfred's Douglas C-47 Reloaded (Beta)

. You gentlemen, and ladies...hi Firekitten, won't be disappointed. Re-painters beware, this product may become addictive.
I'm circling this one like a shark... never fear. When its available I shall pounce upon it like a tramp on chips.

Howdy All:wavey:

Would it be to much to ask for an American Airlines paint job ??

I felt AAL and Delta would be mandatory for a DC-3 version. I've got those on my list for sure. I can't speak for Manfred, so I don't know if there is a DC-3 in the offing, but I'll have the skins ready regardless.

I caught this video and was moved to new heights of artistic aspirations.

Would be nice to see a DC3 with short cowls with Wright nine cylinder radials and passenger doors.

From my research I find that:
The C-47 differed from the civilian DC-3 in numerous modifications that included being fitted with a cargo door and a strengthened floor
But to me they looked the same.

Check out the "Nuggets of info I found:

The Army called it the C-47, the Navy and Marine Corps called it the R4D and the airlines operated it under the name DC-3.
I suppose one could split hairs here but I think they look the same and sound the same.

So the point I am trying to make here is: the C47 "revisited" version that we are all in a stew waiting for it's release could be used to fit AAL or other airlines that you have in the wings
(no pun intended) eh? No I'm not Canadian. Just a transplanted Yankee living in the South y'all.....:icon_lol:

Is/was there ever such a thing?

Edit:

I think there was/is

It sounds like the 9 Cyl was a little bit less powerful the the 14 Cyl. So which engine was most common in the the DC3?

No worries, I'll have the skins and you can put them where ever you want them....within reason. lol
Sleep well my friend as all of the most spectacular liveries are being contemplated by the likes of JanKees, Firekitten, Hanimichal and the quiet masses waiting patiently for the release of the Manfred Jahn C-47 and associated paint kit.

However, you will have to take full and complete responsibility and personal liability for placing a civilian skin on a C-47, because you know....(shark music) the rivet counters are out there. You KNOOOWW they are out there...lurking, salivating, waiting for some poor unsuspecting, well meaning Canadian/Southerner to pounce upon for having the audacity to put (peeking out from behind curtains) a Delta skin on an aircraft with the wrong number of cylinders, windows, doors or dare I say.....rivets.

Rivet counters...the above was a joke and in no way intended to insult rivet counters anywhere, living or dead.

All of that being said, I have a rule. If it looks good on your plane, on your computer, in your sim, at home, with the curtains drawn, after Midnight, then by all means Fly like the wind. (Rocky music). I believe that the first, original 13th amendment, previous to the abandoned version prohibiting "titles of nobility", addressed your unalienable (spelled correctly, usually pronounced incorrectly) right to put your skins wherever you so desire. I could be wrong on that one.

I don't think Prism has an algorithm to flag and tag deviant simmers...yet! Give them time, there are plenty of TARP and QE funds left to spend on valuable projects...oops sorry, lost control of myself there for a minute.

Edit: the above comments reinforce previous statements I have made about myself regarding my personality/opinions and associated, prolonged periods of social isolation or outright banishment.

I've got a new project that's going to require all of my time for a few months J. I'll finish the MJ C-47 paint kit and a few product release skins, but you guys should take on all the really gorgeous paints.

Would be nice to see a DC3 with short cowls with Wright nine cylinder radials and passenger doors.

I would love to see a Wrights powered DC-3. JF produced a "Wrights" powered DC-3 in their LOF package but they all have the large P&W cowls. A lot of the Australian regional airlines that used the DC-3 had Wrights powered aircraft. Ii would love to be able to paint an aircraft with the proper cowls for that airline. Airlines Of NSW is one that comes to mind.

While Manfred is at it maybe he can do a Viewmaster model as well powered by both types of power plants.

With the traffic this thread and the C-117 have gotten, I would think that Manfred will be looking at many of the requests. I've got the JF planes too, but haven't painted a one of them. The beauty thing about the MJ model is that the paint file is the complete airplane on one large page, and it's a very good model to skin with the completed paints.

If the variants were released there would be an almost endless string of candidates. Would this mean that you would come out of retirement for this bird sir????
