Shift+ panels not coming up!

All of my Shift + popup panels, in every one of my planes on FSX will not come up when I select them to do so. No GPS, no radios, no throttle panels. None!

However when I select them to I see a solid black window for a thousandth of a second, then nothing.

I have been installing a few port-over planes, but haven't over-written any guages when asked. However I have placed these plane guages in the FSX guages folder. But sometimes these port-over planes, when loading ask a few questions about their guages saying they are from FS98 and FS2004 before the will finish loading.

Anyone else run into this problem before with the Shift + panels not working that has affected the entirety of the FSX sub-panel functioning affecting all of FSX planes?

I am posting this as a follow-up to this thread just in case anyone else runs into a problem with their pop-up GPS, Radio, Throttle, and other panels that are supposed to come up by hitting Shift 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9, etc., and they don't show up.

I did a google search for this problem and on forum about such problem, a poster posted how to correct it. I copied and will paste here, why they wouldn't show. It is a settings -slider setting issue, and it got my pop-up panels working again instantly.

"I had this problem as well and after a long search I found that this is caused by the 2-D transparency setting of the aircraft. You can find this in the settings of FSX. Go to the aircraft tab and look for 2-D transparency. Shift this to completely to the left. If this is at 100% the 2-D cockpit is not visable neither."

I think I tested that 2D transparency option once right after I installed FSX for the first time. Thought it was more distracting than helpful and I reset the slider and never touched it again. As for the gauge notices you get when porting over FS9 aircraft. . .any gauges that are "98" gauges are incompatible with FSX. You can replace them with a similar one if it happens to be a common gauge. Kazunori Ito's aircraft are a good example. . .about 98% of the gauges he uses in his airplanes are 98' gauges (I think it's done on purpose because he doesn't like FSX), so when I port over any of his work, I know right off that I'll have to replace every gauge.

Glad you found a fix/remedy for the pop-up issue though. . .had no idea it would affect it that way.:salute:

Thank you falcon, that bit of info about 98' guages replacement with similar FSX guages is very good to know.

And my apology for starting this thread in the FS2004 forum. I see the thread got moved. I truly thought I had posted it in the FSX forum. Apparently my age and my mind files sometimes get corrupted, and I dout a defragmenting will do any good at this point with such a small, full, hard drive. LOL!

Any how, I hope this thread will have helped someone else out who inadvertently runs into their pop-up panels not working.
