Searching for a 1960's SAC B-52 repaint

I've been looking for a repaint for the Captain Sim B-52 that would show it as a SAC aircraft of the 1960s in bare metal, white, grey and black. The photos below show the sort of thing I'm after.

I know it wouldn't be authentic with the CS model of the B-52H, but no matter - does anyone know if such a repaint exists ? I've looked in the SOH, Avsim and Flightsim.Com libraries, to no avail.

Ahh! Yes! ........the good old day's at Turner AFB, Albany Georgia (1960-1964):salute:

Can't say I'm aware of any "Cold War" repaints for CS version. There are ones for the old Alphasim -G, and -H (both pre-EVS) models.

As an aside, it amazes me that we have not seen more B52 models - payware, or freeware, than we have. Considering how long they have been around. ("Spirit of Minot" 61-0041, was accepted by the USAF the day I was born, and I'm 51 - yikes!) Other than an old (FS2004, or even FS2002) FS-KBT model, there haven't been any Tall Tail (-B through -F) B52's for FS, that I'm aware of. Maybe a difficult model to model, and might be a beast of a flight model to get straight, but is really too bad. A big "hole" in the FS world IMHO.....

I have been playing around with metal textures but for a quick fix Nathans paints -
Here we go , dose have the 1960 liveries

Captain sim's b-52 is outstanding. The only thing wrong, IMHO, is it's an h model. There are some great repaints on the cs website including, i believe, a 60's repaint and a fictional big belly Vietnam nam era black scheme.

Wish someone would do a tall tail and a g model. The as models are not very good.

I too wanted a 60s nuclear scheme...

...but I actually think the material on the Capt Sim B-52 makes it impossible to have a reflective texture...

Think so too, to create that metal texture look - what I was doing was cut metal texture from hi res photo's and glue them onto the panel to suit ... an experiment - off the boil at the mo as have little bit work to do .

I thought they were all gray. I've been repressing the urge to paint the CS B-52 in metal because I thought it would not be accurate.

I'll have a go at this one. Give me a bit of time.

they were all silver grey EXCEPT: between the white paint over the cockpit and the anti flash white on the bottom and rear fus around the national insignia (need pics to really see that). There were a lot of paint variations in the 60's, some of them: black upper radome; all white bottom of the wings and flaps and white ext tanks; white leading edge, silver gray wing, white flaps, white ext tanks; all silver grey wings, white flaps with silver grey ext tanks. Engines: all white lower surface; all white bottom surface up to the nose cone. All struts silver grey and have very dirty carbon buildup around exhaust.

These schemes were on g models at Blytheville afb for years 1962 - 1966 as best i remember

I've tried Nathan's site a couple of times, and it keeps coming back that the site is unavailable at the moment and cues me for a log in, which I don't have. Any idea how I progress past that ?

Bob, I have the SEA black and camo scheme by David Sweetman, representing the B-52D at Duxford. Given the differences between the two aircraft, it still looks remarkably authentic.

Gman, I'd be grateful if you could have a look at doing this, if you have the time and inclination after all the work you are doing on the MJ C-47. One problem I can see is the shape of the B-52's modern nose cone, which might look a bit odd, half black upper and half white lower. I'd leave that judgment up to you.

Slightly OT, but I thought you'd like to know that there are AI B-52s available at AVSIM.
They're designed for FS9, but work very well in FSX.

Yes, from Michael Pearson, I believe. He has all the models, (B, C, D, E, F, G, H), represented. For the G & H has pre-EVS, Hound-Dog version's - 60's,60's, 80's & present. I believe that he made an effort to have each BW that operated the plane represented (including some "Strategic Wings"). Actually one heck of an effort....

I see Nath did leave his email attatched ... nathphillips2889@hotmail.co.uk maybe a direct request , the G/H model were the only type with the longer nose , cousre later with the EVS and and other lumps and bumps - this from four reference books , two from Martin Bowman and one each from Bill Yenne and Edward Boyne , id have to look and read further .

JensOle - where to get the B52 paint (AS fs9 model?) and also the kc135? Got to have them for my retro SAC setup!
thanks

Yes, fantastic paint there.

A B-52G w/Hound Dog's. Immediately made me think of "A Gathering of Eagles" - the 1963 film with Rock Hudson, Rod Taylor, & Mary Peach. Made me think of the "ORI's", and the MITO takeoff scene from that movie.

Great job on the paint, & hope you make it available.

Thanks
Bill

B-52D in FS2004

On FlightSim.com there is B52DGH_X.ZIP that was done by the KDT group in Japan. This zip includes the big tail D model. As someone who grew up on SAC bases in the 1960s, the "grey" color is actually anodized aluminum. Various components were constructed using differing aluminum alloys resulting in a differing reflectivity. This is also true on the B-29, B-50, and B-47 aircraft. I hope this helps.
