Manfred's Douglas C-47 Reloaded (Beta)

Finally managed to do a paratrooper/cargo drop door, here shown on a Gman paint.

Seems we are being spoilt for choice regarding sound....

Brill :D That's one thing I was always sorry not to see... Nice work :)

Time for an Air America repaint :D

What about puff the magic dragon eh MJ?

Soundset, anyone?

(Link only, because of download link in the video description.)

Thanks Bjoern for the HU. :salute:

Those sounds are spot on IMHO :applause: In fact this will be my sound set for any future and present DC-3's or anything using The R1830 engine.
It is without a doubt, better then any thing out there or about to come out. I was a bit gobsmacked by what I saw and heard in his video.
This young man, Adam Murphy, is on top of the game here and knows his stuff. I sent him an email and thanked him for his efforts on creating THE best DC-3 sound.

and while we wait, I might as well throw in some wip shots of yet another paintscheme:

Hope you like it?

LIKE it !?!?! My-oh-my, JK, you do know how to overflow my drool bucket!

Back in the 50's, I spent many an hour droning along in the back end of cabs that looked exactly like this one. (Well, okay, they were RCAF at that time) But it brings a nostalgic tear to the eye, it do!

Many thanks, Jan Kees! You're my hero.

Unbelievable! What a beautiful job you guys are doing.

I looked about for some pics of the "Albany Night Train" but couldn't find any online. Was thinking of buying the book. Don't know the quality of the pics though.

I'll bump everyone here with direct links when the DAK is released. It's just around the corner so hold in the pattern a bit longer...

Been Holding in the pattern for 10days now and have run out of fuel more times than I can remember.:isadizzy:

Any more up to date news on the release Gman would be a great help, so looking forward to it.:jump:

Not to answer for Gman, but sometimes delays pop up... especially at that last minute. Errors you didn't see till you fixed something else... a never ending circle. Beta 1... beta 2... beta 3... fixes, modifications... Its all a flexible process. In development like this its almost impossible to say 'x date' and be concrete without compromising quality somewhere. Remember... good things come to those who wait.

that means you're at least 20 years over average life expectancy... :D[/QUOTE said:
Just had a full new knee replacement, they said it would last up to 15 years, I just don't know what you mean!:mixedsmi:

Chasing those sheep on t' moors can tiring work eh?

:D

Back on topic...

I certainly would like to see MJ do some other variants one day... perhaps if he has time or inclination... boom equipped sprayer... minigun equipped spooky gunship? perhaps one towing a glider? :D

Me too but first things first, I just want the Dak right now and I know MJ has got his hands full:wavey:.

I'd settle for a passenger cabin! ;)

Have a stack of paints building up just waiting for the new paintkit to polish them off! :D

Last intel from MJ was that he is indeed doing some last minute tweaks on the code. I've sorting out the PK and skins...these are ready for release now. Looks like the MJ release will be the basic aircraft with all of the new bits included. I'll release my skins and the PK at the same time. My skins will be the typical install format to the MJ set. JanKees has his work ready to deliver...he can give the details on how to find his work.

I'd love to see a passenger cabin too and a gun ship and all the window variants and a vintage cockpit. We'll see what MJ feels like taking on after this bird releases. I personally have become quite fond of the modern cockpit. I've put a lot of time into making this office authentic and flyable. In doing the research I've seen so many DAK cockpits that I'm convinced no two are the same lol.

The DAK is at the any minute, any day stage. Hang in there friends.

EDIT: MJ sent me the updates today.

The paratrooper door is being added and Manfred is looking to add the option to drop troops or cargo.
I'm making some small adjustments in the instrument locations on the panel. Same layout...just small mods.

I know how it feels Gman.... We're at that stage ourselves at the moment!

For those that don't develop here... the last week or two is the most stressful part! you find things wrong that boggle the mind!

As for asking for different versions is a pain for modellers! Larry hates me for it!

If it wasn't so much against habit, offering a "nightly" build of a model would be the most comfortable thing to do for a developer.
The receiving end wouldn't get much polish in terms of instructions, manuals, etc...and certainly a lot of buggy, broken or non-working features, but it would eliminate people asking for release dates...

How could anyone hate you Firekitten?
