FR Free AI B-17G Formation Available

mike_cyul

SOH-CM-2025
In case you're interested, the AI B-17G formation has been uploaded to the SOH library. This consists of 39 B-17G's flying in a formation consisting of two Combat Boxes plus a group of three aircraft flying below. As the Readme says, the idea behind the formation is to be able to put a realistically sized group of B-17's into the air, so that you can use it to practice your own formation flying, practice flying escort missions, or get a feel for what an enemy pilot would have encountered during a combat mission.

Instructions are in the Readme file.

Yes, it's free, and, for convenience, the formation is also included in the Me-262 Special Edition package. The website was updated today, by the way, and so with luck the new version of the 262 will be out soon.

Ooh, what fun. Thanks Mike! I've got 'em flying a straight line over central California at 11,000 feet, from Lemoore NAS to Red Bluff, recording with FS Recorder. When I got about an hour of "ai film", I'll do some formatting and practice high side runs.

Beyond merely impressive! Do they shoot back? If they shoot back then that's one dangerous formation to attack!

Ken

Very dangerous in reality once upon a time, but if one uses Captain Sim's Weapons for FSX can one shoot whole formation (one of the models of the formation i.e. several B-17s) down by one shot?
