Flight Replicas Me-262s Special Edition Released

Nice shot! By the way, in case you haven't discovered this, your pilot will put on his oxygen mask if you turn on the oxygen system (blue tap). :)

So, I got a little bit confused.
Currently, I own the original FSX Me-262. Of course, I got the free update to the special version, which was cool.

Now, I understand this new package includes some new high res textures. What else is new in this package, compared to the previous "special edition upgrade", in terms of graphics and features ?
In other words: as an owner of the previous version, should I consider buying this new version ?

This plane is so awesome that whilst flying around the Falklands last night at very low level my Warthog Joystick blew up and no longer works due to the overload of awesome! Whilst waiting for Thrustmaster to do the email dance and then ship it to / from France, I might try this game called Real Life people bang on about. :)

Hmmmm, I am a bit confused too...

I can see that others are talking about a free update for owners of the original version, but I just paid about $19 (incl VAT) for the Special Edition, though I am also a previous owner of the Me-262...

What have I missed?

Best regards
Kim Dahl

Hi Kim. The free update was a limited-time offer for those who had previously purchased Flight Replicas Me-262 packages. The offer expired some time ago.

If you obtained the limited-time free update, the only items you won't have comared to the payware release are two revised textures (and the freewware B-17G ai formation, also available here in the SOH libraray). Nothing else. Have a look at the screenshots here: http://www.flight-replicas.com/Me262SE_FSX_Screenshots.htm

Now, if someone would do a Nowotny (White 8) repaint of this gem, I would be in Schwalbe heaven!!!

I LOVE the flight model!!! Also, the overall improvements to the model make this into an exquisite must have!

Finally had the time to purchase and have my first go with the aircraft this morning - very impressed throughout (as typical with FR products).

Here are some screenshots of a Me-262 Project-inspired test flight out of Paine Field, WA. Being a piston engine prop-junky, its taking some time to get used to the delay in the throttle-to-engine thrust, but its especially fun for this reason, and the other aspects of the flight model, which makes it feel like a very unique aircraft to fly in FSX.

Great screenshots John! Maybe I have to update my old Project 262 textures. I made both White 1 and Tango Tango, I believe they still are available from flightsim.com. Your screenshots looks very much similar to a few of the test flight pictures taken with the new builds around mount rainier. Wolf Czaia's (the test pilot for the new builds) book about the project is very recommended . A interesting DVD with a documentary about the project is included as well.

I met Wolf (the test pilot) one day, very randomly, after work last year when I attended the first flight of the MiG-29 from FHC. We talked outside the fire department at Paine Field where the project is based. He was also an F-104 pilot I believe. They had some star fighter wings outside the Project 262 hangar, which he said they were at one point going to try and restore, but since have cancelled. However, he does have two F-104 silver decals on the back of his Audi A8 parked outside the hangar. Very cool indeed!
