AeroSoft Seahawk repaint Request

gray eagle

SOH-CM-2025
Requesting repaint for a SH-60F Seahawk for HS-14 (CHARGERS) in colors attached.
Since then the squadron transitioned from Japan where they flew SH-60F and HH-60H aricraft to NAS North Island and transitioned to the MH-60S Knighthawk March 2013.
Since they transitioned to the 60S, they have redesignated to Helicopter Sea Combat (HSC) vice HS.
Thanks very much for your help.

Great choice

However

There is no paint kit for the hawk and aerosoft have no intention of releasing one

Going off the textures, you will loose a great amount of detail just using the stock textures and it will be a long drawn out task to replace all the detail like rivets, shadows, grime and lines by hand

That's why there are very little quality paints for this(almost next to none), as most guys wont spend the time on this

Sorry to the bearer of bad news but good luck finding someone willing to do this

That's the one repainter you should ask.

Did you get the other repaints out?

Search "Chuck Bosn" on Flightsim.com, he has an older HS-14 -60F repaint out, I've got all his packs

I did and found this "Chuck Bosn". I used email address he provided in his readme, does not go thru.
He did make a different paint scheme for HS-14 and left the Squadron number off. He claims that he works
off actual pictures so if something is left out it is not his fault.

No Repaint Kit

Although I am not a painter, I found out after I purchased the Seahawk that it did not have a paint kit. There are a few repaints out there that I manged to download.
Question is, if there is no paint kit, how in blazes did they managed to create them?

Now the textures files are all in dds format but I found something that lends a little info on how a paint kit could be built:

if you do not have a paint kit, you will need DXTbmp Editor (that way you can open the .DDS or Extended .BMP Textures that are used on FS9 aircraft even though they are in FSX)

once you open the texture file in DXTbmp, save it as a REGULAR .bmp on your desktop.

open this normal .bmp on your desktop with your favorite image editing software.. Photoshop, GIMP, Irfanview, Paint.net (last 3 are freeware ;) ) and paint over whatever you want to paint. Dont forget the Alphlachannel as well.

when finished, save your work back to Normal .bmp, then open DXTbmp .. grab the normal .bmp and convert it back to the original file (Extended .bmp, or .dds)

From the AeroSoft Forum I quote:

"There are seven different models available, not only the different Seahawk models used by the US Navy, but also the export models (Japan, Greece and Spain) are included. The Coast Guard model (Jayhawk) is also included. Fifteen liveries and a paint kit are available." and on Flightsim I found many Seahawk repaints. Please, where is it?

I noticed on the Aero Soft Forums the same issues of no paintkit and how are repaints made without one.
One of their admin bubbas retorted with:

"More than likely by using the textures as they are in the texture folders and painting over the top of one set."

Then another dude said:
Yes, but it isn't the answer to my question. But ok, I'll have to create my own

I'm hoping that a painkit could be created so that others could add to the inventory of liveries.

He is correct on the HS-14 CAG bird, as that is the 2009 scheme and they did not (unusually) put the squadron below the modex, other pics I found support that. I'm a fan of Flygirlpainter and all her real world work for HSL/HS/HSM/HSC squadrons, when I was in we hardly got any color added to our CAG bird, now it's to the extreme!

If I need any helo related repaints, "jeansy" is my 1st choice. You can still paint without the kit, just not for the novice.

Did you check out the A. Diaz paints as well? Some are for the FS9 version but should work, I've got the CONA SH-60B one in.

Next stop CeraSim

I've been researching andplaying "Catch up" with the whole Seahawk progress and I have learned a few thing here; Wish I had came across this sooner.

The structure of the MH-60S is based on the proven design features of the UH-60L Black Hawk and the naval variant, the SH-60B Seahawk.
The helicopter uses the baseline structure of the Black Hawk with Seahawk T-700-GE-401C engines, hover-in-flight refuelling and fuel dumping. It also has the Seahawk's rotor system and dynamics, including the automatic rotor blade folding system, rapid folding tail pylon, transmission and drive train with improved durability gearbox, rotor brake and automatic flight control computer. The helicopter also uses the Seahawk rescue hoist for search and rescue missions and the naval cockpit doors.
The MH-60S uses the Black Hawk airframe, which provides the larger cabin volume and double-doors needed for cargo and passenger transport, enabling troops to embark and disembark quickly. The MH-60S retains the Black Hawk's provisions for mounting the external pylons to carry stores and equipment, providing added capability to carry out a wide range of missions. The MH-60S has the Black Hawk's 9,000lb external cargo hook, gunner's window, landing gear with tie downs and wire strike protection, along with hover IR suppresser, automatic stabilisation equipment and fuel cells.

So, I guess my next purchase will be that Cera Sim Blackhawk(2nd choice now 1st) when I can come up with another $35. Wow. This is getting to become
more expensive. Would be nice if they offered a sale. I know PC AVIATION doesn't sell it.

Thanks for the info. But to confuse me, they (HS14) came out with the flag/eagle on the tail repaint. Didn't know what their "Colors" were. Did they change to the eagle/flag later on?

Shayne is a friend of mine. She spends more time down at North Island painting Seahawks than I do asleep. For a USAF vet, she loves her Navy helicopter squadrons. She is dang good at what she does too, and she does it all for free.

Thanks for HU on Shayne. I just visited her web site and sent her an email. From what I can tell I am impressed. You are not wrong about her being dang good!!!

She had just updated her website and above link it new site.

It looks like she does artwork and not repaint per se, maybe I got that wrong. Does she do repaints for payment?
Not sure but she sure knows how to do artwork.

Shayne only works on the full size birds, had the pleasure of seeing HSM-78's CAG bird at their commissioning a couple of years ago. Truly works of art.
