Another BR2 Yak is up at The Free Flight Site!

A good day to everybody! :wavey:

I just got confirmation from NoDice that another of the great Gmax BR2's creations for CFS2 was added to the Knifemaker Collection page over at The Free Flight Site:

http://www.thefreeflightsite.com/BDPLanes.htm

It's the late-war Yakovlev Yak9U that I was able to download from BR2's original website quite a while ago. It was my pleasure sending the original download to NoDice for posting and everybody's enjoyment.

BR2's aircrafts are still among my favourite CFS2 models for their accuracy, their rich details and great Gmax framerate performance.

Enjoy!

Bruno was a Good CFS2 AC designer. Having his collection of CFS2 airplane available is a great contribution to the community. Thank you!:applause:

Thanks for the heads up, Kelti, it's almost like getting a whole new plane! Bruno's P-40s and P-38s are still among my favorites!

TW

Nice! Agree. One of the best CFS2 Yaks made. Am I wrong or was it some sort of a copyright dispute with adding new skins or panels to Bruno's models?

Am I wrong or was it some sort of a copyright dispute with adding new skins or panels to Bruno's models?

As it is said in the README file :

You cannot:
-Use this plane or panel to make money.
- Re/upload this archive in a site even as freeware.
-Use the MDL for a repaint without asking authorisation to the plane designer Pascal Auterive
-Use my air file, dp, textures or panel.
-Modify and rework ANY file into this zip to re-upload it.
-Modify or rename the zip, change the filenames, or use any part of this zip into another archive.

You can:
Use this plane for yourself online or offline.
Include this plane in a campaign or mission for a public release, without modification, AFTER asked to each concerned designer.
Rework it for yourself, but without a public release.
Ask to the 3d plane designer the templates to repaint it but WITHOUT using my own textures.

As long as I understand, you can repaint it and make your own panel, dp, etc., but you have to make them from scratch (you cannot use Bruno's file) and you may only upload the files you did.

You can contact him to know if he still has the templates and if he is ok to send them your way.
The e-mail adresses indicated on the README files won't work anymore, but you can find Bruno's most recent e-mail adresses on his website (there are 2 different adresses, don't know which one will work) :
http://www.brunoduffort.fr/services_FR.htm
http://www.brunoduffort.fr/services_US.htm

And look at the e-mail in which Bruno give TheFreeFlightSite permission to use his files :

BrunoLarge.jpg

Now, I think there is no problem if you want to rework his planes.

I am very happy to see the BR planes available for DL again.

I like them all - nice models and dressed by a gifted painter.

As surprise, I found that P-51D, I did not know of before:

Ask NoDice about what can or can not be done. Bruno gave "THE Freee Flight Site" and Dave perms. not everyone. Its kind like LWs objects and trees. A few people have prems but that only goes so far.

I would double check.

BR Aircraft

NoDice,

Seeing the post about the Yak-9 got me looking through my "archives" and I found these.

BR Ki-27

BR Yak-9 T and U with panel and fix

BR P-40B 3,5,7,21,38,47,48,49,68,75,77,88 and 92

If you need any or all of these, let me know and I'll be more than happy to send them along.

Hi Jaxon!

That's a great "Checkertail Clan" babe for our MTO install! You can find my usual pack of prop textures, replaced payloads and exh effects here:

BUB:

If the AVG P-40's you are talking about are the latest Gmax models BR2 produced, do send them to NoDice because they are splendid!

At the time BR2's website was up I was only able to download #7 and #47, the latter being Gregory Boyngton's mount of the "Adam and Eve" AVG squadron. I always admired Greg Boyngton since I bought as a kid his "Baa, Baa, Black Sheep" book, so I only downloaded his aircraft and another one.

Since the aircraft model is the same for both, I combined the two downloads into a smaller one for archiving. I just offered to NoDice to upload Boyington's aircraft skin, as I don't have the original pack anymore.

I think uploading the original pack would be much better and more proper. You can send the aircrafts to NoDice here:

DEA14U@aol.com

And another preservation drive is starting! :jump: :jump: :jump:

Cheers!

This is a message to everybody, because I was advised that something of the posted authorisation to re-upload BR2's works over at The Free Flight website is being missed here.

Attached is a picture of Bruno Duffort's authorisation to NoDice for posting again BR2 works, it's at the bottom of the page and there cannot be any mistaking of Bruno's wishes. Repaints are included.

Quite frankly, whatever the reasons are behind this decision, they are beyond discussion and this issue appeared several times over these pages in the years past, but things remained the same.

If I were you, would not try to bug Bruno Duffort asking for permissions to post repaints of BR2's planes again. He did not reply then, I don't think he will now, but we are seriously risking to see his works disappear again from the Web.

As we do not post CFS2 conversions of Kazunori Ito's military planes for FS9, because Mr. Ito is against war, we should not ask permission to post repaints of BR2's planes. Re-uploading his original works is one thing, this in another one.

By the same token, nothing prevents from exchanging among us whatever repaint we wish to do to BR2's creations privately. SOH website is well organised to achieve it through the PM system.

I personally would hate seeing such works of art being consigned to oblivion. Would you?

Cheers!

Reply...

Kelti,

Forgive me for raining on this parade, but given his acrimonious relationship with SOH, for reasons that need not be brought up, I would only keep his aircraft here in the library if we obtained his direct authorization to do so. To do otherwise in this case falls into the same reason that we don't host stuff by Lindsay and Tango Romeo anymore....

They asked us not to.

So let's be safe and make absolutely sure if we want to go that route. Personally, I'd rather let sleeping dogs lie.

I may misunderstand what he wrote on his README files :
You can:
Ask to the 3d plane designer the templates to repaint it but WITHOUT using my own textures.
Please correct me if I'm wrong (my English is far from perfect) but I understand that repaints are allowed as long as they are not based on the original texture files. Repaints have to be done from scratch and only texture files should be posted.

It is forbidden to post conversions of Kazunori Ito's planes, but you can post airfiles and DPs for them and tell people how to convert the MDL files.

Hi Rami,

your opinion is always welcome! I don't think anyone is asking to re-upload his aircrafts here, they are already at The Free Flight Site and available to anybody wishing to download them.

It's annoying Bruno Duffort with requests for any kind of permission which would cause The Free Flight Site closing the Knifemakers Collection down. This time for good.

It's just a matter of "..I'd rather let sleeping dogs lie..", providing this message is clear to anybody. We have a saying in my country that says: "There's no worse deaf than the one who does not want to listen". Quite true.

Cheers!

BR P-40B's

Hi All,
I sent the Missing P-40's to NoDice at the Free Flight Site. Hopefully he will upload them soon so we can all enjoy Bruno's work.

Kelti,
I believe the #21 was flown by Boyington and the #47 was flown by Petach. The #47 went on to become R.T. Smith's aircraft. I could be wrong as I'm relying on memory and we all know how good mine is.

Yes, you are right.

I do most of my replies from my pc here at work, away from my CFS2 dedicated machine. So I often speak off the top of my ageing head. When I was able to download from BR2 website I could not use a wide-band connection, so I had to limit my greed....:biggrin-new:

Thank you for sending BR2's G-Max AVG P-40s to NoDice! Now I can complete my BR2 collection and fly the great AVG campaigns posted here at SOH with a complete BR2 AVG squadron! :running:

Cheers!
