Eto "out" screens........

....need a little help here. Recently my Winxp computer, with CFS2 on it, started to show a HD failure. Found it was bogus and managed to get the HDs back. It was actually due to a power failure that happened while my computer was off a surge/power-backup (loooooong story there).
Anyway, some of my installs seem to have gotten a bit jangled. I used to have some "OUT.*.*_amer" screens to replace the MS cartoon characters but now they are gone. I do have the USAAF and a USAETO1 set of screens. These were besides the ones I had. They seem to kick in when I fly their respective missions. However when I fly a QC my screen gives "....unable to display...blah, blah, blah.." for results.
:banghead:
Now I tried to copy\rename\ and replace some screens with the afore-mentioned respective screens but the game won't show them. Anyone have a set I can install to replace the generic ones?

BTW: I can't even find the ETO1 that I got the screens from on my computer, or here at SimHQ, any ideas who did it? Or am (aas usual, looking in all the wrong places?)
I will go now.....:running:

Miamieagle...........

...thanks for the comeback but I do not need to reinstall. The problem was I have some "out and scuttlebutt" that I couldn't find who made them. I now have who are the authors.
What I do need is some "Out and scuttlebutt" Amer. that aren't those stupid original MS comics. I liked some of Kurts and the others but it seems that I have been unsuccessful in just renaming the ones I like to "_amer" to end some generic American missions like the sub hunt in plain old non-campaign playing or in QC.
I know that there is a Pacific out file, which I already have in my PTO, but I would like to reflect the ETO.

Fibber,

are they jpg or bmp

In the country.cfg, make sure the names match the images. you will need the .jpg or .bmp extention. as long as everything is the same you should be all set. so look at your images and see what they are. if you have trouble send them to me. I have a fresh install I can test it on.

Thanks to b.h............

.....I may have found the problem. :applause: It seems in the "Country" file the game was calling for a "jpg" while the desired screen was in .bmp format.:banghead: Looked through some old downloads and found that some earlier country/uries were indeed for the .jpg format and later ones seem to be a .bmp format.
Seperated all the calls, in the "country" file, by spacing and it came clearer and easier to read. Plus with so many different
countries/campaigns in my "country" file, it really got confusing.
Changed ALL the _amer .jpg calls to .bmp and everything runs as it should. Really have to stop mix and matching these things and pay closer attention!

Thanks again BH and Miami.

Not a problem. More than happy to help. It sounded like that might be the problem.

I've been making UIRES for my Belgian campaign and had that issue while testing some of them. I made jpgs and left the name with bmps. Ooops...

I hope all will work as intended.

Till Later,
John
