Parking brake/ brake display not showing

papab

Charter Member
The red display on the bottom left of the screen does not display when the parking brake is set or the brakes are applied
Both still work, but does not display

In the fsx.cfg there are a couple of lines under the [DISPLAY] section that state: "InfoBrakesEnable= TRUE" and "InfoPauseEnable= TRUE"
They should display,correct?

I have been using joystick assignments for both using a Saitek X-52 Pro
Tried deleting and re assigning ,still no display

Any ideas?
Thanks
Rick

Verify that the Text color for the Info's did not change to the background color.

Dave thanks for the suggestion
Here is the section of my .cfg file:

ActiveWindowTitleTextColor=255,255,255
ActiveWindowTitleBackGroundColor=0,28,140,64
NonActiveWindowTitleTextColor=255,255,255
NonActiveWindowTitleBackGroundColor=24,33,87,64
InfoUpperRightTextColor=255,0,0
InfoUpperRightBackGroundColor=0,0,0,0
InfoLowerLeftTextColor=255,255,255
InfoLowerLeftBackGroundColor=255,0,0,128
InfoLowerRightTextColor=255,255,255
InfoLowerRightBackGroundColor=255,0,0,128

Is this correct?

That's exactly the same as mine. Is it possible you are looking at the wrong copy of FSX.cfg, FSX puts multiple copies all over the place. Make sure the one you are looking at is in fact the one being used by FSX. Make sure it's the one that has the current date/time after FSX exits, as it always writes a new one on exit.

What happens if you use the default FSX keyboard commands?

Also, depending on the aircraft, the message may not appear.
The Cloud 9 Phantom parking brake works for me only on the lever
in the VC, not only does the default FSX keyboard command not set the brake
but the lever in the VC, while setting the brake, does not trigger the on screen message.

Dave,
It is the correct one

ncooper,
Default KB commands work ,but do not display as well
Default MS aircraft and several payware ,no go

Thanks for the ideas,I will keep pecking at this...

A few lines under that section, you should have these lines. Are they set to "False" by any chance?

InfoBrakesEnable=True
InfoParkingBrakesEnable=True

It's fixed!!

On a whim, I downloaded and installed the latest Nvidia driver(337.88)
Working fine now.....

Do not know what happened,but thank you to all of the responses, I appreciate you all taking the time...
