... so time for another "show and tell".

What are people working on currently?

If the "usual suspects" will form an orderly queue ... :ipepsi2: I'll start us off.

UncleTgt,

Well, let's see. I'm four missions away from finishing The 20th Fighter Group.

I've also been working on a couple of British escort missions to Peenemunde. One is with a Mosquito, which thankfully has the legs to get there and back, the other is with P-51 Mustangs from 65 Squadron out of Hornchurch. (The latter is fictional)

I've also got a couple of boring missions cooking with you flying a damaged C-47 Dakota over the Alps from Ramitelli to Laon, France in March, 1945 where you get intercepted...and a mirrored mission with you flying escort for said Dakota in a Spitfire Mk. XIVe, which is also war-weary.

Other missions include harbor defenses in The Solent, Harwich, and the Thames Estuary, as well as a mission making your way back to England after being damaged in a furball over France.

I also finished (including adding target blocks in the dams) and made into GSL the seven dams for DamBusters: the Ennepe, Sorpe, Eder, Lister, Derwent, Diemel, and Mohne.

Hi Uncle,
great skins as always, :applause:
now i'm devoting my time to reskin the Dewoitine d520 by Bismarck13. I'll post some scree3n shotss here today...
Bye

I was interessed by those new versions of Me 410, so I decided to try and make DP files for all possible models of this aircraft (around 13 or 14 different weapons and guns versions)
All DP's are ready for the old VB model, end Shessi's ones are on a good way.
Should be uploaded in the next days.
I'm also working on exotic repaints for Tupolev SB-2's

I've been working on SBuilderX update to 64-bit with Luis Sa, the originator of the program. It's actually ready, and should be posted in a few days. it is 64-bit, and Windows 7 or higher. I'm compiling a version for WindowsXP 32-bit. There are some improvements. 64-bit allows much larger bitmaps. But even the 32-bit has some improvements.

If Sander De Coq ever releases his newer cfs2autocoast, he could modify it to read the SBuilderX SBX file so we could use it to make CFS2 scenery... Sander seems to have disappeared.

Well since we sailed to a beautiful tropical island I'm taking it easy, relaxing, exploring and enjoying the scenery.

For CFS2 I got the AI jets in Korea to do ground attack and anti-shipping.

BTW UT great skins.

I'm Working on my WWI tents and doing a little here and there on damage models for Guis Euro buildings. Though I haven't done much the last day or so.

I have alot going on with my wife's Lyme so I'm having to do more to help her. She wants a garden and doesn't have the Stamina to do all that she normally would.

Well UncleT,

I have managed to build and modify a few BPF missions for the campaign in progress while doing my retirement processing.

The TF57 is heading away from Formosa right now hitting some island airfields and intercepting some IJAAF kamikazes as we progress toward Okinawa and the Japanese homeland.

I suspect that I will be adding Talon's Formosa ports to the missions I already built there. Though I built some of them in MB just for the missions.
Talon's will be much better than those I built because my scenery skills are at the kindergarten level.
Achim has supplied me with the programs and advice for airfields, and I am still just crawling in my crawl-walk-run progress.

But there you have it. With the reading material you so graciously provided, I am chugging along on BPF, but as of yet see no clear end of build and release for this year. Perhaps by this time next year it will be ready for release and upload. Then again, who knows what Christmas might bring.....

Mine is tad big....

Hi UncleTgt! :wavey:

I have a Northern Italy alternative object layouts and gsl individual files pack for Achim's Italian scenery almost ready to upload. I just finished Torino-Venaria/Caselle.

I am also working on a consolidation pack grouping all of the prop textures I did in the past, updated with my latest improvements. The pack/library is sorted by nationality, airplane model maker and airplane model.

As an example:

Great Britain

  • Aeroplane Heaven
    • Hurricane MkI, II for CFS2
      • Full disc
      • No Disc
    • Hurricane MkI, II for FS9
      • Full disc
      • No Disc
    • Spitfire MkIA

      • No Disc
  • Alphasim
    • Halifax MkX
    • Wellington MkI
  • A. Wai
    • Spitfire FR XIVE
  • etc.

or

United States
  • Alphasim
    • B24J Liberator
      • Full disc
      • No Disc
    • P47D Thunderbolt
      • Full disc

    • P-51D Mustang
      • Full disc
      • No Disc

    • P-38J/L Lightning
    • P-40B/C Warhawk
    • P-51D Mustang

  • FDG2

    • F3F-3/-4 Wildcat (ex-DW)
    • F4U Corsair(ex-DW)
    • F6F Hellcat
    • P-36 Hawk (ex-DW)
    • P-51B/C Mustang (ex-DW)
  • etc.
France
Germany
Italy
Japan
Russia
an so on.....

Each time a replacement texture for the prop blade of a given model will be necessary, to reflect either a resized yellow tip or a late-war branded blade, I will include the *.bmp file and instructions about how to use DXTBmp to do a cut-n'-paste job. I did a web search for the original brands of prop manufacturers and I used them, where possible.

All prop textures will be 100% centered, unless the model animation is so bad to prevent it. I am basically repainting a brand-new alpha texture (the part of the texture files ensuring proper blurred transparency) for all in 2, 3 and 4-blade format.

Over the years, I chose not to upload textures who did not work properly, not due to my errors but due to modelling/animation problems like faulty centering, disc too thick, faulty model compile sequence and so on. This time I will upload a library with ALL of the prop textures I ever tackled.
If you think I replaced the props of my entire fleet downloaded in over ten years, it's going to be an hefty pack. I think I downloaded at least 98.5% of the entire addon production for CFS2, PLUS the models converted from FS8 and 9. I only left out obscure models, experimental aircrafts which never saw combat and any "what-if".

The advantage will be a comprehensive resource library, easy to access and locate the desired texture. I will then ask Rami to purge SOH library from all of the old prop textures I did in the past.

It'll take some time, I started this project back in January and I still have a lot to do.

Cheers!
KH

Still working on my tents. I had to restart the texture mapping. I goofed on it. Luckily I had it saved. I have three damage Models completed for Guis Euro buildings. One my way to number 4.

The garden is in and growing like mad. I even have the lawn mowed. Can you believe it. Actually my daughter likes riding the mower so I've been letting her do most of it. I've only had to do the wood line.

A question for you Kelti....your above references to a Prop Texture file for the FDG2 F4U Corsair(ex-DW).
Is this the same AC as the "FDG2_Corsairs_Anthology_for_CFS2.zip" found here at SOH? A second question.....have you already uploaded this file in the past and if so where can I find it? I have looked for one without success. The one included with this AC is sort of lopsided. I generally fly the A.F. Scrub AC, for which you have supplied a very nice alternative prop.

It's not mine

Hello Worthless,

I am sorry but the file you mention above is not of my making, I never produced a file with that filename.

There are quite a few old models, that were re-dressed very nicely, which I thought several times to include in the prop texture library. I have not decided yet all of the very old models, from the year 2000 to 2005, I will include in this collection.

I will definitely include earlier versions of Malinowski's P-40E, K, M and N. There are so many accurate historical repaints out there for these models that it would be a shame leaving them out, like for, example, all the repaints made by Daniel Leahy with his Pacific Ghosts series. Not counting the beauty of Malinowski's modelling technique, which produced handsome Warhawks since the first one he released.

I will include all of BR2's group models, which were made available again thanks to No Dice's effort over at http://www.thefreeflightsite.com.

For the early FDG Corsair production, I haven't made my mind up yet. I did download them, but archived them away when, to me, they did not look improvements over the stock model. I know there's a rich collection of repaints for the early FDG's Corsair, it will depend a lot whether I'll be able to correct the lopsided prop disc by moving the texture disc around, until I hit the right spot where it compensates the modelling error. I was able to do it on several other models, but I'll drop them if it becomes too lenghty timewise.

With the ex-DW Corsair collection available, where so many visual problems were ironed out, it's simply not worth the effort.

Thank you for your comments about my work on A.F. Scrub's Corsair. :wavey:

Cheers!

Thanks!

Understand completely your rational for worthwhile endeavors and those not worth the effort. I just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed something. I have the utmost respect for the time and effort graciously offered by you and many others as regards the add-ons and enhancements to be found here at SOH.
